Brought My New Pup Home He is really glad to not be traveling anymore, and he loves taunting the cat, but only if I'm standing right there (cat isnt agressive at all, just a little annoyed with the puppy energy, but they've been running around my house together, it was cute. Not sure who was chasing whom, cat is 20-ish lbs and puppy might be just past 3.5) so now for my question... So about all this shaking...I've given him just a little nutrical and he has eaten, not much, but enough to make me feel as though he's at least eaten something. Anyone else's pup do a lot of shaking when you brought him home. He's not shaking now, but he's on my lap just relaxing. When I put him on the floor or leave him alone he starts shaking. Is he just scared? Pics will be posted later, camera battery is out :p |

pretty normal I think the shaking is pretty normal for these little guys. Mine shakes if she gets too much stimulation, like riding in the car and the window is open, OMG!!:eek: Too many smells or whatever. If this little one is quite young you will need to stick with the nutrical to be sure he blood surgar is ok. Mine I had to force the nutrical onto the roof of her mouth, but it seemed to stimulate her appetite and then she would eat some. Hope this helps. |
Rhett was fine when we brought him home, but Oliver shook for the first two days. I think he was just over stimulated. I'd definitely keep up the nutrical if he isn't eating, just to be safe. We also kept the house relatively quiet for Oliver- no tv, turned off the ringer on the phone, just played classical music softly. Lots of trainers say to keep them crated or in a small area for the first few days to help them feel more secure. By day 3, Oliver was walking around the house like he owned it :) |

Congrats on your new little one. His behavior may be a little off for a day or so. His whole world has been turned upside down. He'll settle in. Roxy didn't shake when I put her down. She just melted into a lump on the floor. She pulled out of it fine. She didn't eat much at all the first day, improved the next day. Remember many of these little ones don't really eat a meal. They nibble a few pieces at a time off and on throughout the day. Just keep food down for him at all times. Looking forward to pics. Have fun! |
