Outrageous Pet Ads I was reading one of our semi local online classifieds and came across this... I guess this person was tired of her chihuahua, but was willing to trade for a yorkie... oh, but it needs to be a tiny yorkie. Some people mystify me. 1yr M/Toy Chihuahua,5lbs 4oun,UTD http://ads.adsack.com/content/admark...ge_0-thumb.jpg 1yr M/Toy Chihuahua,5lbs 4oun,UTD shots, has CKC papers. $500 or a trade for tiny yorkie. Text or call ___________ AKC Yorkie Pups. Beautiful, Small, Ready to go. Shots and Health Guarantee. $500 Call:___________ Ad# 19158311 posted on Apr 02, 2010 this one also got my attention because I have never seen a yorkie pup go for $500. hopefully it's legit. I don't mean to be mean, but it is always a wake up call to see these ads. Not everyone deserves to be a pet owner (hence the first ad trading the chihuahua) ... Please feel free to add your own! |
I like the term you used: Mystify. That says it all! |
yorkies in my area go for 500 all day long - and that's with papers. there may not be a guarantee that it will be 2 or 3 lbs, etc... that seems to be when the price skyrockets! but a yorkie for $500 is the norm. |
REALLY! Wow, Around here Yorkies go from $1200-$2000. The breeders who are more reputable charge $2000 and have firm contracts. I have never seen a yorkie under $950 in my time searching. Quote:

Location has a lot to do with the price |
In my area, Yorkies start at $1000.00 and that is usually without papers. Pedigree papers mean nothing to me because I don't breed and always have them spayed as soon as possible. |
Wow...I would say I can't believe the gall of that person, but really, nothing surprises me anymore. Anytime I see Yorkies, or any dog for that matter, advertised for an extremely low amount, I just think to myself, "Gee, what corners are you cutting?" |

1. They cross breed a female Silky with a male Yorkie because she can produce a large litter and call them Yorkie because most gullible people don't know the difference. 2. They do no health testing. The main two corners that are cut constantly and it sickens me. |
I got my Yorkie for just over $500.. and he is strong and healthy. He is also 6 months and pushing 12 lbs, which is why she told me he was "cheap". Apparently nobody wants them that big?!?! I love that he is big! |
Oh, one more: 3. They sell the puppies at 6-8 weeks old to cut their own expenses to make $$$ |
I am living in Ontario , Canada....and while I done my searching I also noticed that the cheap ones(under 500) are either sick or not at all yorkie! I got used to the idea that if I want one of these puppies I better be willing to shell out anywhere between 1000-2000, and thats not including the puppy supply expenses, groomers, vets for checkups...and everything else from food, grooming supplies for home, toys, beds, clothing.....and everything else I see that I think Lucky would love!! lol Just saying that the cost of a yorkie doesn't stop at just when you pay for him!! It's alot of money involved right from the start!! But worth every cent! I'd do it all again if it wasn't so expensive!! lol |
All this thread has accomplished is to post free ads on YT for breeders.:( |

Also remember just because someone sells for more, it doesn't mean they've done required heath testing. Many millers get less than $200.00 and brokers sell them for all different price ranges. |

You are right! I never thought about that :( Sickening!!! |
