natural balance ???????????????????????? Maxwell is going to be 1 year old soon.I am going to be changeing him from puppy food to adult food , He has always been on natural balance,and i want to stay on that line .Does anyone feed the natural balance vegetarian formula and if so what do you think about it .I have always heard yorkies can't eat just any kind of dog food .I don't want to mess up.So if you feed the vegetarian formula will you let me know how your babys have done on it .I don't want no upset tummy .Once again thanks for all of yalls help. |
NB is a good food, why vegetarian? Dogs need protein (meat) unless he's allergic to chicken etc. Buddy has been on NB organic for 4yrs and I hope I never have to switch, he does well on it, he has a beautiful coat and poops normal 3 x daily. The organic has only one protein in it, chicken. I choose that one because the vet said to try a one protein food at the time because he was having stomach problems and we just never changed since he liked it and did good on it. Dogs are meant to eat meat unless he's having some trouble with it, if so there is also a fish kibble as well. |
Sadie eats natural balance, but not the vegetarian type, so sorry I can't help you there. She does eat the potatoe & duck SMALL bites. She has always done great on it and she is 2yrs old. |
Ted's on Natural Balance. Was on lowfat (little chunky man) now on Duck and potatoe. I bought the vegetarian and Ted and our Lab didn't like the taste; so I just sprinkle it in with the duck. I prefer Life's Abundance, but it got too expensive with feeding Wallace the Lab too; so switched to this about a year ago. No poop problems on this end (haha) |
I agree with the other posters...unless there is a medical reason dogs need protein/meat in their diet. We have vegetarians on this forum who feed their dogs meat so hopefully they will also comment. I'm a vegetarian (well pescatarian) and I do feed fish (and would feed meat). I know of at least one Yorkie who has not done well on this formula, but many do fine. But dogs have a need for nutritents, not particular foods. They can do very well on a vegetarian diet (ovovegetarian or lactovegetarian..eggs and/or cottage cheese) and we could even say they can do okay on a vegan diet if we bring soy into it... As long as the food is AAFCO approved for the lifestage of your Yorkie, it is okay to try it. I personally think there are better choices though. |
