2 puppies? So many people ask what it's like to transition from 2 puppies to 3... but how is it going from 1 to 2?? Thanks for your help :) |
Olivias young enough that she really wouldn't be too jealous so if you are planning on getting another yorkie, it should be no problem with her:thumbup: just make sure you spend extra time loving on her. Good luck with your new puppy! Olivia will be so much better for having a playmate:D |
For me, adding the second was easy as for Lola it took her a week to adjust. Lola has a very "diva" personality but after she adjusted it was great and she loves the companionship. Adding #3..........a bit more difficult but it's what I really wanted and we are all happy:) |
Crosley was 4 1/2 when we got Wrigley and I was super worried about how she would react. I can remember feeling guilt on the drive home from picking up Wrigley. I thought Crosley would hate us. She didn't even acknowledge her for a day or two. Wrigley was a 12 week old energetic puppy and basically kept bugging her big sister until she had to pay attention! They lay together a lot and Wrigley is stressed if she's not here. It's funny because Crosley is like 17-18lbs and Wrigley is 6lbs, but Wrigley is the boss and tries her best to keep her in line! She's a tattle tale and has a snotty/brattiness about her. :p Overall it was much easier then I expected! I really do think they like having the company. Two to three was more difficult, but there were a lot of factors in our going from 2 to 3 though. |
Thanks everyone :) That helped a lot! |
We got Nala when Bandit was 2 years old. The first two weeks were a little rough but it was SUCH a great decision. They still have their little personality conflicts but they like playing with each other and cuddling with each other (Nala literally lays ON TOP of Bandit lol). Definitely happy I got a 2nd. |

I was so worried about getting another yorkie because Bandit is dominantish, but the puppy turned out to be the dominant one in their relationship. She always wins the toy they tug-of-war for, she barks at him if he eats before her (even though her food is out for her), but ANYWHERE else she is SO submissive. She spends the entire time at the dog park on her back lol. It was a very interesting dynamic between them, but it worked itself out:) |
When I went from 1 to 2, my other dog was a grumpy older pom. She and Cali (the new yorkie pup) didn't seem to pay any attention to each other and it worked out fine. |

I think there might be a 3 pound size difference in the girls when they are full grown. Does anyone know if this might be an issue? |

I think Olive is going to be 6lbs and the other pup looks to be about 3 or 4 so I don't think it'll be too bad... |

Here's Jackson at 13lbs and Nala at around 4.5lbs. And another in the back of my Jeep of Jackson w/ Bandit and Nala. |
I haven't gotten a new pup yet, just browsing! Thank you for the videos! I'll be sure to watch them when I get home from work, hehe :) |
Oh how cute! Thanks so much for sharing!! I think the size difference won't be as big as I'm making it out to be... Olive is 4lbs now so I have an idea of what that's like, and 6lbs won't make her that much bigger. |
they have an instant buddy, two sounds good to me.. |
I have 4 Yorkies and also Livi's three babies right now. :) We don't have any problems with them and it's sweet to watch them run through the house playing. Good luck with your decision! Tammy |
I didnt really notice a huge difference going from one to two... they had some issues at the beginning but got over it pretty quickly. You still have to feed, water, change wee wee pads or walk, etc... you dont notice that you are doing it for two as opposed to one. The only time I notice a difference is on bath day although its still not bad. My pocketbook notices it a little more, they cant share clothes because one is a boy and one is a girl, my second had some medical issues which contributed to high vet bills, and the groomer costs double now... but all that is worth the big reward... DOUBLE THE KISSES AND SNUGGLES! :p |
It looks like things are going well for me to get a second one. I'll have more details soon :) They will both be girls and similar in size so we can share clothes, bows, and everything! I just hope my vet will take in another, otherwise I will have to have separate vets. It's not really a big deal, but it would be nice to take them to the same place! |
