I nearly had a heart attack this morn... My Lexi was asking to go out this morning early and I let her out in the front as usual. We live on an acreage. I could hear my other two dogs barking in the back yard but they do that when the neighbor is outside so I did not think anything of it at first. But then I heard the leaves rustling around the side of the house so I decided I better get Lexi but it was too late. A large German Shepard came around the corner. I immediately called Lexi to come (Hysterically) and did she come? NO! She went straight for the other dog! I screamed Lexi, Come, Come, Lexi, Come! She wanted to play so she ignored me. I was thinking , "This is the end, I am going to witness this tragic ending." But the other dog sensed my panic and decided I was crazy and ran off. I was so mad at Lexi for not coming to me. I have just gotten back from Walmart with a long leash. She won't be going outside without it any longer. I am pretty sure the other dog never saw Lexi as she blends in with the leaves. Thank God for small miracles. |
Oh my goodness, I am so glad everything came out alright because you are right- it could have been tragic. I am so leary walking Roxie even on her leash. I look around constantly to make sure there are no loose dogs running around in the neighbor. I had to carry her home one day-holding her up on my shoulder, with a big dog follwing me and looking at her like she was a tasty snack. No matter how much I yelled  for him to go away- he just kept focused on her. I so glad the other dog panic in your situation. I think he knew he would had been a goner if he touched her. I know I would have just jumped in the middle without even thinking about it. I am happy for you both! :lovewings |
OMG - CLOSE CALL !!! Good thing that Shepard wasn't hungry or was just an easy going guy - that could have been AWFUL !!! I know you did practically have an attack - When this same thing happened to Tessa my cocker - I ran interference and was planning to tackle the chow and possible put it out of commission - but lucky it didn't get that far but I SO REMEMBER My panic that day.... Glad your baby came thru that close call |
Oh my, I would have been scared too!!!!! I'm so glad she's OK. Princess will go up to any big dog because she wants to play, but you never know what the dogs will do, if you don't know them. I agree, keep her on the leash when she's out there. I hope you have a better day! :) |
Oh no! I''m so happy this turned out well for you! I don't blame you for wanting to go after him! I would also jump in the middle and get my baby. Your a good mom for keeping her safe. :) If you can find out who owns the german shepard, you should tell his owners to keep there dog away from your baby  |
We have new neighbors with a HUGE German Shepherd. It's scary. I know a little bit aobut how you felt. |
