10 week old 4 POUND puppy???? Does that sound right? I called a lady yesterday thats about 2 hrs from me. She has a 10 week old male pup and is 4 POUNDS!!!!!God, that dog is going to be huge.....does that seem right! At first she said 3 pounds but than emailed me a pic that said he weighs 4 pounds.. |
that is quite huge...however...my sister has a AKC yorkie that is getting ready to hit 13lbs. dexter weighed 1bl at one month old and gained a pound per month...and chloe (my sisters dog) at two months old weighed twice as much....so it sounds like this puppy will be a big one. chloe is very healthy and eats the same dog food as Dexter...she even eats less than he does on average. |
That is a lot, I wonder what she weighs her puppies on. hmmmmmm I would ask what the parents weigh. If she says 13 pounds, then thats maybe the weight, but if she says 5-7 something is up. :) |
That is rather large. I would ask about the parents weight |
Stewie is bigger than both of his parents. I'd bet that this puppy will be about 10lbs full grown |
Hi ytisrk27, My Charlie weighed just under 2 lbs at 2 months old. He is 2 years and 2 months old now. He kept growing during his first full year. He now weighs 12 pounds! He is not overweight at all. I always fed him really healthy, organic food and treats. His mother is 6 pounds and his father is 3 pounds!!! Weird! I know that could happen with humans, where the parents are really tall and have small kids or the parents are small and have tall kids. I think the rule of thumb with Yorkies is usually to double the weight at 3 months of age, but that wasn't true with Charlie. It sure seems that the pup you are interested in will grow up to be a big Yorkie, or as my father calls my dog, a "Stretch Yorkie". LOL Charlie was about maybe 3 pounds at 10 weeks old. Just think, there's more to love! :aimeeyork |
One of my babies weighed 2 pounds at 3 weeks....hmmm 2 pounds every three weeks....that would be 6 pounds are 9 weeks...maybe 7 pounds are 10 weeks...eek!!! |
My Thunder was 4 pounds at 10 weeks too. Now he is 7-8 pounds at 16 weeks. But he has a bit of poodle in him. |
Our Lillie weighed 3 pounds at 7 weeks. She is now 2 years 2 months and weighs 9 pounds. At one point she got up to 10 and a half pounds and our vet has her on low cal food. She would eat until she exploded if we let her! |
its not like i dont like big dogs..but Mason is alittle around 3 pounds at 4 months...i want to try and stay around the 5 pound or less ...:) |
My little guy weighed 4 lbs at 10 weeks and he weighs 5.9 lbs now and he's almost 6 months old. He was a big puppy I guess. Anyway, n o matter what they weight we love every ounce of them...don't we?? There is just more to love :) :) :) |
Yes Id say its going to be a good size as an adult. |
my lucky was 3 pounds at 8 weeks. now at 6 months he weighs around 8 pounds. breeder said his mom was 5 pounds and his dad was 3 1/2 pounds go figure. i will admit i wanted a smaller yorkie. but i have to be careful not to step on him, and still catch myself picking him up carefully trying not to hurt him. i think now that he's the perfect size for me. he may not fit in a tiny bag but he fits perfect on my lap Ü. |
He is going to be a biggie, but like someone said We love all Yorkies of any size. |
When Yorkies came to America the were 15-20lb dogs. They were bred down to a smaller size but that big gene reappears every now and again. It doesn't matter what size they are, they are all adorable. |
Two of Bell's litter weighed in pretty big. At 8 weeks one weighed 3.75 and the other (Lilly) weighed 3.5. Lilly is 4 months old and weighs around 5.5lbs now. She is shorter than her mom, but more stocky! I figure she is slowing down now and will probably be around 8lbs full grown. It doesn't make a different how big they get(unless your showing or breeding) Just as long as you love them and they are healthy!Did you ask how big mom and dad were? And if they knew how about the grandparents?? :p |
Chloe's (my sisters 13 lbs yorkie) parents were 4 and 5 lbs. which seems odd for chloe to be so big, but she is...so if you don't mind a larger yorkie, then i'm sure she would make a great pet. |
sounds big!!! but i did however see a yorkie at the pet store that my boyfriend and I called "Godzilla Yorkie" he was Gracies size at the time and she was 4 lbs!!! He was SO cute though!!!! |

You never know. |
That's why I am the "Paisley pup". My 6 yr old Kip is a throw back to English dogs of the last century, commonly refered to as Clydesdale or Paisley Terriers. They were larger dogs, and Kip is 11 lbs. She was not that large at 10 wks though, just about 3 lbs. I think. Not show stock, but they are great dogs just the same. :aimeeyork |
