Please say a prayer for Sweet Pea I would be so grateful if you all could say a prayer for my baby. As i posted last week Sweet Pea was going to be spayed last Friday. Everything went well, the vet said she woke right up after the surgery and was a bit playful and wagging her tail. So my daughter and I go to pick her up and the vet said that Sweet Pea was about to start her period so when she was inside her she was a bit swollen and her uterus was a bit bigger than she thought it would be, so her scar is a bit bigger than normal but she did really good. Sweet Pea is only 3lbs at a little over 1yr and the vet is a bit concerned so she told me to watch her and when she feels better to feed her about 25% more than we are now, we feed her every 4hrs ever since we got her at 12wks. We go home with pain meds and anti-biotics. The 1st feeding i gave her just a little bit and she was ok with that and drank some water, then 4hrs later i gave her a little bit more food (we feed her L/S Cannine wet food by rx only and Royal Canine dry small kibble, but we are just giving her the wet food right now) the reason why we give her rx food is because they thought she may of had a liver shunt or MVD but her 3rd Bile Acid test (test was sent out) came back in the normal range, so that is why we waited so long to get her spayed. Sweet Pea threw up her 2nd feeding of food, so i called the vet and she said to give her the low digestive, low fat wet food (by rx only) that we still had from 4wks ago when she was vomiting/diarreah. The vet said to give her the anti-biotics (2x's per day) after she keeps her food down for about 30mins and to stop giving her the pain meds (which i'm glad cause i think she was getting too much pain meds, its in a syringe and measured by the vet) The 1st night home she was standing on my daughter's bed and her head was down but her body was still up and my daughter called her name and she never moved, when my daughter touched her she didn't move, my daughter thought she was DEAD and started screaming for me...but she was just asleep, standing up!!! WHEW! So no more pain meds for her. Here it is Monday and she is just now able to keep her low digestive wet food down, and she is not in pain, no yelping and we can pick her up without her "crying" We are now feeding her every 2hrs small amounts. I'm so worried though as we can feel her bones and her spine through her fur. She has a check up appt this Friday and i hope she has not lost any more weight and has gotten her appetite back. My daughter is so upset saying "we should never have let her get spayed, she was fine until then." Sorry this is so long, please can you say a prayer that Sweet Pea keeps keeing her food down?? I will pray for Sweet Pea. I'm so sorry that you are going through this. Hopefully, now that she is off the pain meds, she will make a complete recovery and be back to herself really fast. :) |
I am so sorry that your baby is not doing well. it is scary when they have surgery and they don't do so wellafterwards. Pixie just went through her spay last week and it was a lil tougher than I thought it would be. You think that after the surgery is over everything will be ok and when they get sick it is very scary. Poor baby. I will certainly keep SweepPea in my thoughts and prayer's. I hope some other's see this so they can comfort you and give you suggestions. Hang in there and keep offering her food. Once she settles down hopefully her appitite will return. Hugs, |

I do hope she makes a speedy recovery. I'm sure that when she is feeling tiptop that her appetite will come back and she will gain some more weight. Little Alfie send his kisses to your darling. x |

Prayers definitely being sent to Sweet Pea. Poor little one. :( Do you think that maybe she was reacting to the pain meds? I know when Hot Rod had his lp surgery, he was having trouble with the pain meds so we stopped them after 2 days. Please give Sweet Pea a big soft gentle hug from me and let us know how she\'s doing. |

What pain med was it? The pre and post for the third bile acids test was normal? All other blood work always been normal? How long has she been underweight? My girl is very underweight also. Her metabolism is extremely fast. |
