To clip bangs or not? I left for Florida for 3 weeks and had to get Rambo's bangs cut bc his sitter wasn't able to put his hair up or put a barrett in. I hated doing it but now debate whether to grow it out or not. It will probably be a pain growing out, but the cost of getting his hair clipped gets expensive. WHAT DO I DO?;) Oh yeah! and I'm debating whether to have him neutered or not. He is so Adorable and little. WHAT SHOULD I DO? |
I have both..clipped and not clipped. I go with how my dogs are...I have a boy who does not mind his long coat and bangs so he gets bathed and bowed weekly. I have a girl who is an absolute tomboy and will not leave bows in or stay clean so she is clipped and in a very short puppy cut... |

How little is little? Most small dogs do fine being neutered, the surgery is not as invasive as a spay and usually they can come home the same night... he would have to be really small for it to be a concern. There are some good articles on the risks and benefits of neutering but personally I prefer to neuter mine... I have no business breeding dogs so I feel it is easier and healthier to just have them fixed. |
my Thomas gets Clipped..but they grow really fast! Right now he looks like Ronnie Dunn ! (Brooks and Dunn) :D |
There are so many serious advantages to neutering; for example, you will know that you or Rambo, will never be responsible for puppies born who can't find a good home. You can feel safer knowing Rambo will be protected from certain kinds of cancers; you will also have greatly reduced the odds of Rambo getting hit by a car. Injuries from car accidents are the number one cause of death of unneutered dogs, and Rambo will be much more likely to not runaway. You will greatly reduce the probability of his marking inside, and you will keep Rambo a little boy, instead of a mature male, all great things for pet. The only reason to keep a male intact is if you plan to stud, and the only reason to stud a dog is if he's a great representative of the breed and it would be a crime not to. Concerning the topknot, I love the topknot, but I think yorkies look great without them too. To me, a topknot is such a part of the Yorkie's heritage, and Joey's the first dog I've had that I could do this, but this is just a personal choice, and unlike neutering affects no one but you. By the way, if you decide to grow it out, next time, the babysitter can leave the barrette out and just brush the hair back, or some people part in the middle. There are some elastic hair bands that are really easy to put in too. |
