Kisses and Tongue Galore
 
Okay so my puppy loves me and I love her very much too. However, whenever she is around me (sitting on my lap or I'm down on the ground with her) or when I first wake up and go see her, she constantly jumps/crawls up to my face and tries to give me tongue and the kisses are non-stop! She does this to my fiance too. Even when I close my lips very tightly and squeeze them together she'll try squeezing her tongue in my mouth. Of course I don't mind a few kisses from her, but my lips are getting pretty chapped and occasionaly she'll nip at my lips. I really don't feel like having chapped lips constantly or a puppy tongue stuck down my throat or better yet gettitng my lip bit off. Any suggestions on how to minimize the kisses and french kisses? Do you just get up or move the pup away from your face and ignore them and hope after repeating this over and over again it will stop? I'm trying to do this but anytime she gets near me it's lets crawl up to mommies face and give her some tongue. I've gotten more tongue in in a month than in my entire life it feels like. :p Any suggestions?

Rio is the same way!!! The worst is when she gets her little tongue up my nose - I feel like I'm drowning! LOL! I try to put my hand in front of my nose/mouth so that she ends up licking my hand instead of my mouth. Then I lower my hand away from my face so she follows my hand. But most of the time my DH and I just accept all her kisses until she's had her fill and stops on her own.

I do the same thing with Olive :)

Twinkie sticks her tongue up my nose all the time! :D
That has to be one of the longest puppy tongues I have ever seen!:p
But, I do love her, kisses and all...;)

Haha. I haven't had the tongue up my nose that many times, but my fiance has! I do get the wet willies (tongues my ear canal) occassionaly.

Duhh. Why hasn't it crossed my mind to use my hand as a barrier and to then move my hand away from my face for her to follow. Seems so logical. I'll have to try. Thanks!

Chloe likes the whole "tongue in ear" action
and sometimes tries to give me kissies but i only let her lick the TIP of my nose ONCE!! My lil girl is still a poop eating puppy!! She may like the taste of poop but i cant even smell it let alone taste it!! yuck! i love her but not her poopy lolz

Roxie is a sloppy wet kisser too. She loves to lick our faces raw, and she gets her tongue in mouths, ears, and noses all the time. I try to turn away, but that does not deter her in the slightest. She also really loves to lick our hands and arms...basically any bare skin. I gave up trying to stop her...maybe she just really, really loves us and that's how she shows it. :)

Just remember the next time your dog gives you tongue or kisses that a dog's tongue is not only his wash cloth but also his toilet paper! Nice thought huh! :D

I always wondered where the notion that a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human's come from? I'm pretty sure it's one bit urban legend.

My girl actually got my lip and nipped it today when she got a few kisses in on me so I have to really work at stopping her/calming her down with the kisses!

Since we are on the subject of tongues, Twinkie loves to lick my ankles and legs when I get out of the shower. She patiently lays next to the tub and once I step out, there goes the tongue. She gets so excited! I have to make her stop so I can finish drying myself off! :yelrotflm

ha, ha, my 2 do the same things as you all are saying. Maggie also nips your nose sometimes and sometimes it has hurt! lol

I just try to beat them at their own game and give them kisses on the sides of the heads. It's like a contest to see who can kiss who first. lol

My little Muffin does that too. Tongue on the lips, in the nose and ear. I love her kisses. My old dog(a Cocker) wasn't a kisser. Most of the time I just lift my head and she just goes for my chin. :bleh:

It must be a Yorkie thing. Sadie especially likes the ears. She also loves to give baths, but all we have to do is tell her thank you two or three times and she stops. Really can you believe such a long tongue can belong to such a little one.

Haha...Morgan is the same way. She LOVES licking, esp my mouth and nips sometimes. Those kisses hurt!

Samson is the same way, he has a nick name which I am not sure is appropriate for this site. Anyways I tell him no and pull back, he knows I don't like them and he always approaches my face more cautiously. I don't mind the kisses but he would do it none stop if I let him. My daughter doesn't mind him doing it so when she comes to visit he practically attacks her, so he knows who has set boundaries for this type of behavior.
