Put a little meat tenderizer on your dog's food. It will make their poo taste nasty (a vet told me about this and it works!) And it's a lot cheaper than a prescription drug.

HAHAHA -Bonnie too:D I can tell when she runs like crazy from the bathroom and jumps up in my lap and gets right in my face.
Even if she goes in the middle of the night (which is not often, thank goodness) I have to get up RIGHT NOW and tell her what a good girl she is and give her a treat:rolleyes:

Ha ha! It is amazing. I really thought Thor might never get it. It was so heartbreaking when he'd go a few days without an accident and then lift his leg on a table right in front of me. And now he's a Potty Master!

Now that my girl is not eating poo she doesn't stink anymore :D

I tried the pineapple it didn't work, changed her food it didn't work either :( so I just watched closely and when she poop I said good girl when she walked away from it I said good girl and gave her a treat. It took time but so far no more poop eating, hope she doesn't start stinking again.

Sorry to go off topic, but I remember also that I was in total denial for a while there too. I would find a puddle of yellow liquid in my kitchen, and I'd think, "maybe I made lemonade in the middle of the night, spilled some, and then forgot about it." Then came acceptance, and finally, enlightenment (on Thor's part ;))

I've never had an issue with either of my boys even attempting to eat their poop, but I've read a lot of posts with people's yorkies that do. There's this stuff you can put in their food to make their poop taste bad...maybe you could give that a try if the other suggestions don't work? good luck!

Has your puppy been wormed? This can cause those issues too.

Nancy - I understand and agree with all the other reasons a dog may eat it's own and other's poop - I just don't think it has anything to do with eating the evidence. :D JMO

If you use meat tenderizer, make sure it's the unsalted kind as too much salt can harm a dog; lets not forget this puppy is only 9 weeks. Meat tenderizer works much in the same way pineapple does, it has enzymes that help digest the protein, and some dog foods contain hard to digest protein. If no undigested protein is in the poop, it won't be as appetizing to the dog, and it won't smell good to them.

Lol, Joey use to hide his poop behind a large house plant, now he's bolder and doesn't care what I think! :D
