Hi...I have 2 yorkies and a cocker spaniel PRONE to ear infections - I use Vet Prescribed Ear Drying Drops - but you can find Ear Cleaner Drops with Drying Agents at Petco - by the Petco Gold Label.... I hardly ever use anything on my yorkie girls... but swear by these for my cocker spaniel - you squirt some in and let it come back out on it's own.... IF YOU THINK your yorkie has an ear infection - go see your vet - I wouldn't try to treat that by yourself because most yorkies don't get infected ears like other breeds do....Good luck - hope this helps |
Hi! Welcome!!!! Water in his ears? Did you give him a bath? You need to dry them really good if you did, When Princess gets a bath, I dry her ears, then use a blow dryer on low to make sure she's good and dry. I haven't heard of anyone putting something in the ear. Hmmmmm I hope we get more feedback soon. But Again, WELCOME to YT. |

See, I knew there had to be an answer!!!!! LOL, and I knew you would have it! Have a great day Villette! :) |
Welcome to YT. Can't wait to see pics of little Ranger. When you bathe your little one you can put a cotton ball to prevent the water to enter the ear. I tried it but the cotton ball always fell off, hopefully you will have better luck. If you think your yorkie has an ear infection, I think is best you take him to the vet. At the pet store you can find ear cleaner drops, but I will ask the vet first. |
Welcome to YT - hope you'll love it here as much as the rest of us :) |
WELCOME to YT, it is simply the best!! Glad you could join us. |
Thank you guys for the advice. It was after a bath and he went to the vet on friday for shots so i know it isn't an ear infection. I am going to try the cotton ball idea next time he gets clean. I do blow dry him after. I will post pics of the the little one, he is simply adorable i can't imagine my life without him! Thank you all for welcoming me, it is great here!!! |
Hello and welcome to Yorkietalk! I hope you enjoy it here! |
WELCOME TO YT!!! I use a wash cloth to wash my Yorkies' faces. I hold the ears down to the side of their head to wash the top so no water runs into the ear. I somehow have a feeling you are hearing a "clicking" sound when you rub around his ear. The vet may not have checked for fluid in the ear. I use VET Solutions - it is an ear cleasing solution that cleans, dries, acidifies, deoderizes and contains aloe vera. I clean the dogs ears with this every time before I bath them. I got it at the vet's office for $8.00, but it will last forever it seems. P.S. I also have a new little puppy about your puppy's age and I too am totally in love! Mine was born August 5th. When was yours born? |
I use Oti Soothe for ear cleaning and I got it from my vet. When I bought Lacey, she had awfully dirty ears and this product was great. Now I use it when I bathe my two yorkies but usually their ears aren't very dirty. Not sure how Lacey's ears were in such a mess because her breeder is very good. I learned on YT that when I bathe them, just hold their ear down when applying water and that will keep water from getting in their ears. It's so easy and I don't have to deal with cotton balls or anything. Welcome to YT, you will really enjoy this site and learn a whole bunch. |
Hello and welcime. Im Mickey and Minnies Mommy Debbie. Water in the ear can cause infections. Id have a vet look at him. |
Ranger was born on July 30th so they are very close in age. How big is yours now ranger is staying very small he just hit 1 lb what about your baby? |
Welcome to you and Ranger! It is helpful to place cotton balls in the ears prior to bathing to eliminate water getting into their ears. And drying the ear very well afterwards if water does go in. Never use cotton swabs or such, only a towel/washcloth for drying. Hope you enjoy Yorkie Talk - You have found a forum with members just crazy about our fur babies. |
