Babies day out 4 Attachment(s) The lovely ladies of the red hat society at a nursing home nearby have been missing Ele's visits during her 'laying in'....so yesterday we took a few of the girls and Ele and the pups for a visit. How quickly a couple of yorkies can fill a room with delight. |
4 Attachment(s) That's my mom second to last and then poor Chance tuckered out after all the excitement. I highly recommend this as a great way to spend an afternoon. I was blessed by a lovely lady who just turned 99 and showed up for the meeting on her own two feet, dressed to the nines and looking just marvelous. wow. |
That is such a great thing to do. I can see the joy on all their faces. Your babies are darling. |
Stacey, the pictures speak louder than words!!! This is such a wonderful thing you do for these people~~ :p :p So many of our elderly are quickly forgotten and shoved into these homes with nothing to do. I know I worked in a home for several years and it is heartbreaking. Thank you for your ray of sunshine.... :) :) :) |
Oh how sweet!!!! I bet you made their day! :) Yorkies sure can light up any day!! :) Your babies are so cute!!!!! :lovewings :lovewings :lovewings :lovewings :lovewings |
That is AWESOME! How sweet of you to do this. Do you do this often with your babies? Was there any special traning involved? I have been wondering about therapy training for my Baili! This looks like such a special experience! :) :) |
Stacy that's soooo great you went to spend some time with them - I could just see the happiness in their faces...Nice Nice pictures :) |
That is so wonderful of you! I bet the dogs had a great time too, enjoying all of the love and attention. I'm sure you made a lot of people smile that day. |
It was easily as much fun for me as for them. My mom and her husband Skip live just around the corner from the home, and Skip pops in with the girls almost every day for a visit during their walk. Rosie is quite plump from the treats they dole out and I've been scolding... There is training involved with becoming an official therapy dog, but Skip just charmed the staff (he had 4 legged tail wagging help) and now we're regulars. |
That is such a great thing to do. I can tell how happy they got with t he visit. |
How wonderful of you. I wish more people with friendly yorkies that don't bite and don't shake when strangers are around would go and cheer up the elderly. There is nothing like a puppy to cheer up people. :) |
awwww stacy what a great day for you, the kids and the ole folks, yorkies have a way of makin grumpy people smile, even me:)!!! That is so sweet, they warmed their hearts and I am sure yours too, good job my friend! PS cute cute cute babies and kids:) |
Thank you for sharing those wonderful pictures . |
Thanks for all the nice comments... |
The babies are beautiful as always! How sweet of you to do that! :) (BTW- happy 800 posts :D ) |
Your babies are beautiful. Thats so nice of you to take the time and do that. Yorkies warm the heart and brings a smile to everyones face. great pictures. |
God Bless you, I'm so glad there's people like you in this world. sometimes it seems like theres no relief, but then people like you come through the door and make everything better. Keep up the good work, I know you've brightened my day and I'm sure lots of others. You're such an angel. |
The older people do love it. I'm in southern Indiana and i took bobo to nurseing home. then they decided to have a dog show every year the older ones are so happy to see then. Keep up the good work God will richly bless you. Some of them have nothing to smile about. I have bobo in training now thought it might be fun. |
I can see this was truly a labor of love for you. So many people in nursing homes miss their dogs so much and don't even realize how nice it is until they have one in their laps again. I have heard of depressed people who haven't spoken in ages that start talking after a visit like this. Lovely pic of your Mother and Chance. Good Job Chance!! |
It looks like they had a great time. How wonderful of you. |
AWWW Thats so swet of you to do that. Just look at all those happy people with Yorkie love. |
My mom was in a nursing home for 3 years due to a stroke that left her unable to walk. Pet Day was one of the events the residents looked forward to so much! And the animals always enjoyed it too! This is a wonderful to do (and I think you've given Bubbles and me an idea!) Thanks for posting that delightful story! |
Fantastic! You are so wonderful Sylvan. Your babies and these lovely ladies are beautiful as well. |
the nursing home that my mom was in had a couple of dogs living there. This was in the alzheimers unit so everyone thought the dog belonged to themselves. I took buckeye in to see mom one time. she was trying to recover from a broken hip surgery so she was in a lot of pain. when i held buckeye up for her to pet, she grabbed his ears and tried to pull them off. so i didn't try to use him for therapy again. |
I do 24 hour care 3 days a week for an elderly gentleman in his home and I bring Chewy. He just loves her, and Chewy loves him, as well. They always look forward to seeing each other. And, when my mom was in a nursing home, before her passing, I used to being Chewy all of the time. Everybody loved her. And vive versa, of course. She could easily be a service dog. She loves everybody. Wherever I bring her, she goes up to people and wants them to pet her. A couple of weeks ago, my elderly gent that I take care of had a sort of a family reunion at his house. So, here I was, surrounded by all of these old people, (and I'm no spring chicken at 62!!), and Chewy was just loving it. I was busy serving them food and drinks, and she was just going around being her friendly old self. Except for this one old mean man...kept saying..."get out of my way, dog, before I kick you". Oooh...I was just biting my tongue. He kept saying mean things to her, and she just kept going up to him and being nice. I was just seething. Except Chewy knew something I knew, but forgot. Just keep being nice to everyone. Well, her goodness paid off. He finanlly said...'Well, this is some dog". No wonder everyone likes her". So, there's a lesson there for us all. |
