anyone got an answer:( another problem i have with max... is he HATES the car... fine for about 5 mins then starts pantin like crazy an then pukes.. dunno what to do!:( |
Is he able to see out the window (and keeping it cracked)? That MIGHT help a little bit. Ask your vet to see if she recommends any meds to take before getting in the car. Someone on here should be more help than me, sorry. |
Start with very short car rides and work up to longer ones. If you are pretty sure he will puke after five minutes, then take him on a 4 minute car ride - get him out and praise and reassure him that he is ok. When you can successfully complete a 4 minute ride, try for a six minute ride. Take Max for as many short rides as possible every day -- always ending the ride on a positive note before he gets nervous and throws up. Max needs to learn that going for a ride is the best thing in the world and that the rides will end with a huge wonderful treat at the end. |

i do open the window a little bit an he is able to see out.. maybe he sees everythin goin past really fast that makes him sick....... once the pantin starts the pukin follows!!!:animal36 |
Teddy does not like the car either. We put him in his crate with a blanket over it to keep him calm and that really helped because I think what bothered him was the moving horizons so once he could not see it, he was better. He is not a car lover by any means but at least we can get him to the vet, puppy school, and friends/family houses on occasion. |
We had this problem early on with Reesie. She still whines a ittle butas long as she can see out the window she's ok. She still has trouble if she's stuck in a position where the sun is directly on her through the window, she'll puke, so I try to keep her shaded and cool. |
Gatsby will start to get sick after about an hour i always have a cool rag in the car that i rub on his belly we stop the car and let him out for a min and he is fine for another hour i have not had him in the car more then 1 hour 45 min |
Bella still gets sick once in a while. I always keep a towel in the car. I know that this isn't going to go over to well with some on here, but she does better when she's laying on my lap. I make sure she hasn't eaten about an hour to two hours before we leave, and sometimes I have to turn the airconditioner on and blow on her to keep her cool and comfortable. Sometimes she can ride up to 8 miles before getting sick and sometimes 75. I guess it depends on her mood. Good luck. |

I also will turn the a/c on for them and make sure the blower faces their way. Hot Rod seems to feel better when he's cool. I also have them high up in a snoozer car set so they can look out the windows. |
