Pedi Paws Has anyone tried this before? I am looking to buy one because it's SO HARD trimming my babies' nails! I just want to make sure it works well and is worth the money before purchasing. |
this is just a personal opinion but I think they are better for bigger dogs. The grinding part is so big. here are a few experience from friends of mine. #1- one of my friends had a Pom and she was grinding the nails in front of the dog and it got caught in the fur and kept turning until someone unplugged it. After that the dog had a bald spot right on the front of the body (the chest) and it really hurt him. #2-this one is an experience from someone that came to petsmart to return it while I was working and they told us what happen to their dog, I do not remember the bread though. But anyways they left the little lid on the pedipaw and put their dogs nail in the little nail hole and I guess it was more powerfull then they expected it to be and the nail slipped under the lid and was caught betweent he lid and the grinding part... it ripped out the nail :(. I guess just from hearing this stories it scared me away from it. I think I am better off using a hand nail filler :) Goodluck, some people with more experience will sure give great opinions... I am just scared of it..lol |
I have the Peticure (same thng) and it does work. I got one bc Ruby would not let me trim her nails and I thought, hmm...maybe this will work better. Got it and the first time I tried it, she pulled away like normal. I was determined though (after all I spent $25 on the thing!) held her paw firmly and didn't let her pull away. Smoothed her nails off quite nicely....but, after that day - I could clip her nails just fine! She had her bluff in on me before, but sticking with it made her realize nail clipping wasn't too bad. Now, I clip their nails, and then smooth off any rough edges with the Peticure. |
I have thought about it but they are way to big for little dogs like yorkies and chihuahuas I think. Another thing is that when they start selling things half price at Walgreens that usually means they don't work well. Not always but it seems to work that way for me.:p |
I have tried it and I don't really like it. I think it would be a lot better for bigger dogs also. Just my experience with it. |
I was given a Pedi-Paws from a lady that bought it for her boxer. He did not like it and I found it to be waaay too big for my little Zena. I purchased a regular nail clipper but Zena will not hold still long enough for me to use it safely. I now take her out for daily walks around the neighborhood and the sidewalks trim her nails very nicely. Woo hoo! |
I tried it and wrote a blog on how to get them to use it without being scared, but I still don't like it, it justs takes too long. I can't cut with a clipper, so I either take Joey to the vet, or his breeder for monthly nail trims. |

I have the Peticure and love it! It also has several size holes for the different size nails. |
I returned mine, Tia didn't mind the noise but it vibrated on her nails too much x |
I bought one also. The vibration was to much. I asked my groomer about it and she said they do vibrate too much for most dogs. She told me she uses a tool like a dremel in her business. I still have the pedi paw but plan on returning it. |
Pedi Paws is a bit large, after I bought one I saw a few different smaller models come out on the market that looked like they would work better, so shop around. I think one was made by Oster. |
We love it! And I say "we" for it's a two man operation really. One to hold said victim and one to file! I quicked one dog one time and I was scarred for life! I take a damp paper towel, brush back the hair over the nails and then spreading the paws from underneath, go ZIP, ZIP, ZIP with a rolling motion, holding the tool at 90 degrees to the paw. It does take a few times to get the nails short enough but to save on the panic attacks (me, not the pups), it' worth it! |
I have to pedicure petite and it has smaller holes in it. But it takes too darn long to do. Each nail takes about 5 mins to grind down. I guess if you only have one furbaby and he/she will sit there that long while it is vibrating then go for it. I used the pedicure on 2 furbabies (30 plus mins) then finished the other 3 with clippers (5 mins):D. One of mine hates the vibration and does not mind the real nail trimmers so that made up my mind and now the pedicure sits in a drawer:rolleyes: |
