Armani needs SOMETHING...I just don't know what?!? I'm in the Belleville area (Michigan) and my little Armani needs a friend =( He's not that social AT ALL! I'm the only person he will come to & he spends most of his time trying to find me or laying on me. It's kind of depressing! I wish he would get up & play but he just won't! So i was thinking maybe a play date would really do wonders for him? Or does anyone have any suggestions? He's only 6 months old! I thought he would be in to everything & exploring...but he just doesn't.....the ONLY time he will leave me is to eat or do his business THAT'S IT!!! I don't want him to be so unsocial! |
Sophie would love a playdate but we're in Grand Haven, (on Lake Michigan half way up the state)....not sure where you are. If you're ever up this way give us a shout :) You might try to post this on the Great Lakes regional YT forum. |
lol lol, I've been debating about posting a Michigan meetup somewhere:D |

What about puppy classes in your area? He get's to meet new friends and so do you. Plus he get's some behavorial training as well. Killing three stones here at the sametime. |
Reesie's only buddy is Cindy and Cindy goes places that I wouldn't turn Reesie loose in. She met the groomer's Yorkie a couple months ago and all she did was growl, so I've been looking for ways to get her socialized, too. She has an appointment with the groomer later today so we'll see how that goes. Lots of puppies there right now! |
UGH...Grand Haven is FAR from me..darnit! I would have LOVED for Armani to have a buddy! But you never know, maybe one day we will be out that way?!! I'm in Washtenaw County..it's pretty low on the hand lol If you do a get together in Michigan, count me & Armani in! Seriously lol he NEEDS it! Plus i would LOVE to go...i've never been to one =) And I have thought about taking him to Petco...but the last time I was there they only had big dogs and since Armani's accident(I sat on him :( ) i've tried to be extra careful with him & right now the thought of a big dog stepping on him scares me! so i'm trying to find smaller dogs for him to play with and I have NO ONE around me who has a smaller dog! |

Wait until he is several years old before you train him in Personal Protection and Weight pulling! |
I wish I could help, but I think New York is a bit too far for a playdate...:animal-pa |
I'm also on the West side of Michigan in the Grand Rapids area. I took Pixie to puppy classes at Petsmart and the only other puppy in the class was a Doberman and Pixie was a little standoffish at first but warmed up to him very fast. It did help with the social and she loves to see other people and dogs now. Pixie is 19 months old. |
Yorkie Meet-Up? Have you thought about checking online for Yorkie meetups near your area? It is a great way to introduce your pup to other dogs and people. Just walk around for awhile until everyone feels comfortable. My friend's Yorkie likes the people rather than the dogs at times. I'm sure both of you would have a good time. :) If your dog is still afraid try it again. My dog was bitten by a Silky that was off leash last year at a garden center. She is so afraid of other dogs now except for her one friend. I have been taking her to the meet-ups. She is slowly getting better. It will take time for her. I have to be patient. Check it out.. |
