New Baby Jelousy Help
 
Hello Everyone!
Our yorkie, Teddy, will be 2 in June and we also have a 10 month old daughter. Teddy has never been agressive towards her, but whenever we are playing with her, he is right in our face with his toys, he barks, and wants all the attention. When we need to be with her for whatever reason, he has been going to the bathroom off of his mat (either right near it or somewhere else in the house - lately our couch!) We do give him a lot of attention, but Im wondering if there is something else we could do. We walk him when the weather is nice, but this winter has been brutal where we live and he is only 5lbs. Thankfully, spring seems to be here! Please offer any advice of you have to get him/us through this! Thank you!!

Aw! He's jealous of the new baby. He was the only child for so long and now I suppose he feels left out when you are giving the baby attention. The only thing I would know to do is to try different things, such as sitting on the floor with the new baby and include him in some play at the same time with the baby. You do have two hands!:D Just try stuff like that. He's still a puppy and he feels left out and placed into the second spot now after being No. 1 around the house for two years. I would try my best to play with him and the baby at the same time (when you can) because I think he will learn to love the baby that way and not be so jealous.

We have twin granddaughters. When they visit we kinda go thru the jealousy thing also. Twins 2 month old, Bella almost 2. Whenever I'm doing anything with the babies, I make sure Bella is part of it if she's around. If I am holding one or both babies and Bella needs attention also, she seems content to lay on my lap at the same time. If not my lap right beside me and I pet her and talk to her also. At first my son wasn't to happy with this but I let him know that Bella lives here and he doesn't. So she's used to being the only one. She is pretty good with the grands, and she will get better as they grow. Try to involve you pup in everything. That's my suggestion.
