He almost swallowed GLASS
 

This was a scary ordeal...

I broke a glass today and after sweeping the floor 5 times I thought I had cleaned it all up. A few hours later I see that JoJo had something in his mouth and when I tried to grab him to see what it was he ran away from me, so I was basically chasing after him. I know what he was trying to do...he was trying to SWALLOW whatever it was in his mouth before I took it from him.

When I finally grabbed him I heard a clanking on his teeth and I thought it was something metal. I pried his mouth open and noticed a 1" by 1" piece of glass near the back of his throat!! I used my index finger to swoop it out and THANK GOD I got it out, however, not without giving myself a pretty deep gash that is still bleeding. I inspected his mouth and everywhere on him and I'm still shocked that he didn't cut himself. My finger will heal, but I don't know what would have happened to him if he swallowed it! God was definitely watching out for him today.

I know most of us here already know this, but please, please, always keep an eye on your furbabies. Their mouths don't discriminate, and no matter how careful we can try to be, they can get into something dangerous. All it takes is seconds!!

Wow,how scary was that. I know how you feel. I swear you can be so careful and they still will find what things that can hurt them. It is def worse than baby proofing the house ever was for me.

OMG.....how scary! What a relief you got the piece of glass from JoJo, sorry though you cut yourself in the process.

I am so glad JoJo is ok! I hope your finger feels better soon! Great reminder to everyone to be extra careful. Our babies tend to find everything!!!!

And the part that I'm afraid of is when they try and swallow it so you don't get it!!!:(

I know what you mean. I broke a glass too last week and thought it was all picked up. Twinkie didn't find anything, but two days later, I found a small piece behind the trash can. All I kept thinking was, what if she had tried to eat it! I was a nervous wreck! I am glad you got to your baby before it went down his throat. Someone was definitely watching over both of you. ;)

Thanks everyone. Yes, it is a very scary thought that he was trying to swallow it. That's his naughty side...he knows when he's got something he shouldn't have and when I try to take it he tries to swallow whatever it is fast so I can't take it. I'm still shocked that considering how jagged that piece was (it really did a number on my finger when I "swooped" for it), that he didn't cut himself at all. I think I got it just in the nick of time because it was pretty deep down his throat and I really had to stick my finger back there to get it. I am SO thankful I got it and he's okay!

O thank goodness he is okay! whew! that was a close one....hope your finger is doing okay OUCH!....
