Hello, I was wondering if anyone could tell me when a male yorkie drops his testicals. I took mine to a vet yesterday and he said that he only found one. Could someone tell me if this is normal. He weighs 2.5 pounds. Someone told me that the other one may drop later. :aimeeyork

I am hoping other YT members can give you some information that you are looking for, if not maybe your vet can help out.

My Males dropped right about 6 months old.

Welcome to YT! The other should have dropped by now. You should be able to feel the male's testicles by 8 weeks of age. Can the vet feel the other one up there? Could be that it's stuck up there and he will need to have surgery.

Charlies dropped before six months old but Bailey had one that didn't. Vet said not to worry. Last time I had Bailey at the vet, he said that he thought he felt it dropping and that sometimes it takes a little longer. They are about seven months old now. That's about all I know about that :)

both of Tiggers dropped a little before he turned four months old. it'll drop don't worry.

Welcome to YT! Chewy's were dropped by 4 months as well. I actually heard somewhere that you can massage it down. I don't know if that is something we even want to get into... :lol tears

my little guy will be 8 month the 23rd and neither of his fell and the vet says she cant feel them so we will be setting a date to have him nuetered real soon seems he is being slow at everything cause he hasnt lost all of his baby teeth either so thats another thing i've been waiting for but looks like he will have to have dental work also . hope everything falls into place for your little guy soon. :) welcome to TY

My males have had their testicles down by 3 months. I bought a choc male and I just gave him away to a pet home. He had only one and he is past 8 months. When they tok him for neutering, vet said that the second testicle would not have dropped.. I think if they are not palpable by 4 months, chances are they will not come down. I would ask the breeder if there were any more who had the same situation. An honest breeder will tell you. Turns out, my boy AND his male littermate were both afflicted..genetics at work..

Just A Question. What would be the problem of breeding a male with only one testile dropped. If the other one doesn't drop what happens to them. Are they still able to breed. :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

You can have male puppies with just one testile just like the dad . There are great risk of cancer when just one is dropped .

At 8 weeks old , Gazou had both dropped .

I called the breeder I bought him from and she said that because he is a little guy, they take a little longer. She said hers normally dropped by 8 or nine months. The vet said to bring him back in two weeks and see. He is four months and weighs 2.5 pounds. I will try the massage, but even if they don't and he has to have surgery, he is my baby and I just want to what is best for him. Thank you all very much I really like this site.
