Waking Up Too Early I really really really would like my kids to sleep in the bed w/me, but they wake up too early (between 4 and 5)...I've tried, several times, to no avail...If they sleep in the living room and kitchen, I get to sleep until 6 or 6:30 (w/no accidents)...I'm afraid, once they wake up in the bed, if I don't take them out, they'll wet the bed...Any advice? |
Cerise doesn't get up until I get up. If I get up late (weekends) she will stay right in the bed beside me until them. She even stays in the bed some work mornings hiding slightly under the covers after I shower, as if that will keep me home I guess  I place a potty pad and bed step in the room for her just in case she gets bold during the night, but that for over a month now has never happened. Maybe placing a potty pad in the room will help. |
Twinkie sleeps in bed with me and I have stairs at the end of the bed, just in case she has to potty during the night. She will do her thing and climb right back in bed. She is 7 months old now, so she has it down pat. When she first started sleeping the bed with me, she had 1 accident. It didn't take her long to figure out that going potty in the bed wasn't a good thing...:) |
Mine would just occasionally - after puppyhood - wake me earlier than my wake up time. I don't know if they are waking each other up or not!:D |
I appreciate the suggestions, but Apple Puddny Pie only goes outside...Buzz will go on a pad, if I sleep in a bit too long, but then he's gated in the kitchen...I even thought about putting an xpen, by my bed, and popping them in there, if they woke up, but the'd start wrestling around, making a rukus, so I guess they'll just have to stay put in the living room and kitchen...I'll probably try again, sometime...Always in hope they'll sleep past 4  |
My little girl only uses puppy pads right now...until we move out of our lil apartment in two months and then she's gonna start going outside...but she sleeps in bed with us until we BOTH get up...if one of us gets up first...then she'll go over and cuddle with the other until they get up |
You'd really love my lazybones Kacee. Most of the time I have to drag her out of bed of a morning.:D Now, Muffin would be up and ready to go whenever I woke up. They are all so different and yet so much alike. |
Jada and Bogie both sleep through the night snuggled up next to me. They have never woke up through the night to go potty. Of course Jada is 3 and Bogie is 18 mos. They are both rehomes and were older when they adopted us. :) They both get up when we do at 5 am. DH has to be at work at 6 so it works out great for us. They are both pee pad users and go running straight to the pads when we get up. |

Uni will sleep in late, and I mean late! and if it's cold, good luck! I have to pry her out of bed. That being said, most morning she will still wake me up to go pee at around 5 or 6 am. She is pad trained, but the pads are downstairs in the sunroom, so she would have to learn how to open doors (two of them at that!) to go by herself. So I take her down there. Now that we have Katie, I take her too. We are still working on training Katie, she's ok about 80% but she did pee in the bed twice already. Then I go back to sleep. So, for your question, do you have a balcony or back porch or something where you can take them outside, but not actually have to walk them? That's what I do for Katie. In the early morning I take both of them to the pads, but later when I actually get up around 8 or 9 I take her out to the front lawn and have her go again. She can't hold it for as long as Uni, nor should she, since she had bladderstones before. |
Thanks goodness my Sadie sleeps through the night most of the time! She is potty pad trained and when my husband and I are getting ready for bed she will go potty one last time before bed. Even if it is just 2 drops. She knows to empty her bladder before bedtime! Occasionally she will wake up in the middle of the night and she makes sure to run and jump on me to get my attention! She doesn't bark, thankfully! I have to get up and walk into the living room where her potty pad is and turn the light on before she will get off the bed! Little stinker! |
Both my babies sleep in our bed, which is a king. I place their two small beds down the middle between hubby and me. I also peel back the bed coverlet to the foot of the bed and beyond (ha) and I also have a padded waterproof mattress cover, very very comfy for us humans. My babies are great about not going. Honey went one time and it was really an accident, hubby didn't get her up soon enough, I was not at home at the time. Also, Honey was still learning to control herself. |
Sandy sleeps in his bed next to ours. He'll go to his pad at night. When he was younger, he woke up when I got out of bed around 7am. Nowadays, the little thing is as lazy as his daddy is :p Both of them won't get out of bed until 7:30am! If he wakes up first, he'll go and wake his daddy up with lots of *kisses*. :D |
