AKC Registration For Other Registries?? I was looking at puppies on my local Classifieds website, and someone there said that her ACA registered Yorkies are able to be registered with AKC because they opened the doors for other Registries to be accepted now? Does anyone know anything about this? I tried looking at their website but couldnt find anything, so I googled it and found the following thread with this information: (http://www.lab-retriever.net/board/a...-t7319950.html) For a dog with papers from a non-AKC accepted domestic registry AKC has a new program where we are researching pedigrees of dogs that do not have AKC paperwork to determine if the dog comes from AKC registrable stock. In order to determine AKC registration eligibility, you will need to send AKC a copy of your dog’s pedigree, registration application and/or registration certificate from another registry. You can also submit documentation provided by the breeder such as a contract or bill of sale. The dog may qualify for registration if the pedigree shows no break in AKC lineage and the dogs in the pedigree originate from AKC registrable stock. Should the dog be deemed registrable, AKC staff will register the dog in question for $30. All late fees will be waived. When you submit your paperwork, please include your name and phone number. You can submit the paperwork in one of three ways: Fax the information to 919-816-3770. Mark it attn: Registry Research. Email images to altreg@akc.org. Place Registry Research in the subject line Mail to: AKC Registry Research Attn: Special Services 8051 Arco Corporate Drive Suite 100 Raleigh, NC 27617 Does anyone know if this is true or is it just a bunch of BS for puppy mills to get more puppies sold??? Please advise! |
I dont know for sure but i think its true the AKC is also registering mix breed dogs so that they can compete in some shows (like agility) |
We've had several threads about this before, and from what I understand, some breeders left AKC for other registries a while back. The other registries enticed them and gave free membership and other things, however breeders found that the other registries initial promises weren't kept, and wanted back in with the AKC. Lets say you had two AKC dogs and registered their offspring with another registry, if these puppies were initially registrable, you can still register them or their offspring, although, the dogs in question, have to come from AKC registrable stock. Concerning misslissa comment, this is a different program, mixed breeds are not "registered" their names are listed, and they can compete in non-conformance types of events, they have to be neutered, so this is only for pet owners who want their dogs to compete in things like agility, not for breeders who want to register mix breeds. This program started because many people have rescues and wanted all their dogs to be able to compete in training programs. |

Ruby would be a good example of this, I think. Her greeder advertised as AKC, but upon seeing the papers after getting home, realized her litter was ACA registered. When I questioned them later about it, his explanation was that if it mattered to me, Ruby could be registered AKC, bc her parents were. He had started registering ACA bc, it was less expensive and most pet people didn't really care... At the time I was ignorant to mills/greeders and their deceitful ways, didn't care or know about registries and like so many are, just thrilled to have her finally. |

If you want to show in AKC shows - you need to make sure your dog is AKC registered to compete in confirmation AKC show events. Being ACA will not work. |
Not a hoax I just emailed them and it is legit. Just sent in all of my docs for my little Pebbles...so here's hoping! |

Not saying that this is the case of your dog.....but, just to inform you that reputable exhibitor/breeders are leary of dogs registered on this type of registration. |
