Hair is to thin on top for bow. I was hoping to get a little girl puppy that I could put bows in her hair and dress her up but her hair on her head is so fine and thin that I can't get one to stay in. Is there any kind that would work better? If I use a rubber band I'm afraid it will pull what little hair she has up there. |

Oh, well, she is not even a year old yet. She probably has silky hair, doesn't she? It will thicken more over the next couple of years. Using the bands with care won't harm her. Go ahead. My girl had really thin hair after her puppy hair was gone and it has thickened over time. Her hair is straight and silky. We use bows and/or barrettes everyday.:) |
I don't know bout when she was a pup but Mindy's hair is thin on her head as well, her hair is more on the silky side. I still put bows in her hair and they stay fine, she's 2 yrs old. |
sounds like you have a silky hair yorkie...Mei Ling was the exact same way but now that she is 2 years old her hair is perfect for bows...hehe...and I use the latex bands you can get at dollar tree...like 500 for $1.00 and you can pull them out without hurting them or their hair...i don't like the rubber bands that catches on to their hair when you pull...if you use those than you have to scissor them out...good luck |
How do you get the bows to stay in their hair? Lucy has thin hair too . . but the groomer always manages to get one in that lasts a few days. As soon as I put one in - it's off within 5 minutes or 5 seconds! Of course, the only bow I bought was a 39 cent one at the local pet store. I twisted the little rubber around twice = probably should have tried 3 times . . but my hands are not that nimble! |

Hi; My Lola also have thin hair but I use bow in a clip and I glue a piece of Velcro between the teeth. She try to take it off but the Velcro does a good job. |

1 Attachment(s) Bands stay in better than barrettes, especially in thin hair. Make sure you use high quality latex bands made for grooming. Never tug, pull or try to unwrap a band as it will break the hair. Band removal scissors are a must have. They have a hook on one end to snag the band and pull it away from the hair before you cut it. Also, a little conditioner in her hair first helps, too. |
