Very aggressive since neuter Hi All... I don't know if i need advice or just someone to tell me it will get better. Sammy was neutered on 3-5-10, the first few days of course he was really sleepy and rested a lot but since a few days after the surgery he has become very aggressive. He's barking at EVERYONE and biting...kind of like he did when he was tiny and was teething. He will be 9 months old next week. I was just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with their male becoming aggresive after being altered or if Sam is the only one. Also if anyone has any suggestions on how to break this aggressive behavior i would love to hear them. thanks! Kristy |
I never had this issue -- but I'm going to throw out an idea. Perhaps that since he's been neutered, you have babied him a lot? Often times when we humans feel bad for our dogs, we shower them with affection, kisses, hugs and all discipline goes out the window. It sounds like he's "taking over" your house and thinks he's the boss. Some dogs can take all this affection and not have physiological issues over it, but for others... it seems to empower them. Maybe you need to step back up and become his leader. Just an idea -- I have no idea how you've been treating him since the neuter! |
Honestly, he bounced back really fast i really didn't need to baby him. I did the first day but that was about it. He's a bigger boy, 10.8 right before surgery. last night when he bit me i turned him onto his back like i did when he was a little pup to let him know that i am the mommy. That worked for about a minute then he was back attacking me and my roomates beagle. He's also becoming more territorial then before. i just hope it's a phase or he's getting used to not having all of those hormones raging. |
