This is so sad, and one of the reasons why I'm an advocate of only supporting the best of breeders. Dogs who closely resemble a standard are much more likely to go to a rescue and get adopted. I believe that people who just want a pet should go to the local pound, these dogs are on death row, there are also breed specific rescues if you're in love with a specific breed, and only want a pet. I believe that you should only buy a dog from a breeder, if you are 100% behind their breeding program and you believe that the breeder is doing their best to improve the breed. | ???? :eek:I only wanted a Yorkie, and for a pet, and was very cautious in my research of someone/breeder that met my requirements as a breeder. WOWZA, I had requirements and specificatons from where i was buying my pup, never once did the considering their breeding program?? Are you referring to weather or not it was from a BYB, pet store??
I'm considering a new addition and have yet to find a rescuse with mom/dad on site and the rescue having complete background info of the health of that dog unless they had it since it was born? |
