Frankie blew it. He was invited to stay at my daughter's while we were on vacation. My perfectly quiet, never go to the bathroom in the house guy was a nightmare. He peed everywhere, even on them. He barked all night for a week. All of this was so uncharacteristic. Guess it is back to the kennel next time. I must say, I am so glad I didn't let him stay with my many friends who wanted to have him for company. My daughter will forgive me. They would not have. Any ideas what caused the Jeckel/Hyde syndrome. Animal behaviorists, give me some feedback other than he missed us. |
Awww, Frankie. Possibilities: did your daughter maintain the same routine that you have Frankie? Is your daughter's home environment similar to yours -- noise level, peaceful or hectic, small children? Does your daughter (and family) relate to Frankie the same way you do? These changes and missing you may have caused the aberrant behavior. Is he back to his normal self now? |
Layla spent the night at Grandma's house. It was her second night away from home without mom. She is 7 months now. My DH suggested we take her playpen over for her to sleep in. She was an angel (except she pooped in Grandma's room) Maybe next time take his bed or a blanket that he sleeps on. His crate? also its good to do alot a visits before and make sure Duaghter house is Fun place! Like a child, needs to get use to doing things like sleep overs! Good luck next time. |
Mine know they are not to pee in the house. Unfortunetly, my daughter's house is not the house that they know not to pee in, they think that is outside. |
I guess he was mad for being left. If she had limited his space and taken him out, perhaps he would have done better. He was just lost without his mommie.:( |
Did they have another dog? The peeing on PEOPLE sounds like an ownership thing. |
Why do these lovely yorkies let us down sometimes. When I take Alfie over to the forest or the common he just barks and barks but when its a pavement walk he's fine. I'm sure its an excitement thing but I hate it when people keep looking. As you said at least your daughter will forgive your furbaby. I take things relating to alfie so personally. |
i've learned with my new little guy that if we go to the homes of friends and family, belly bands are the only way to go if we want a chance at a return visit! :) |
Frankie was marking his territory. Is he neutered? Some neutered males will mark, too, especially in a new environment or if a strange dog visits their home. Maybe you can get a pet sitter to come to your house next time? |
Frankie is neutered. Frankie had his crate there. Frankie had his bedding and toys there. Frankie adores them(My daughter and son-in law). He sleeps with us and was able to sleep with them. There were no other pets there. Frankie is pee pad trained and had access (visual access as well) to seeing where the pad was the WHOLE time he was there. Frankie is used to going places--he goes in to work with me on occasion for hours at a time and NEVER pees. BAD Frankie!!! So what gives? He doesn't have any good excuses other than he was ticked off. |
That's why the thread title was "Frankie Blew it!" Optimal conditions for him. He was never left alone for the whole week and spoiled to the degree he has come to know. He does board, so I guess Frankie just blew it. He actually likes to board--maybe he prefers that to my daughter's. Pet sitting is not an option. I don't want anyone in my home. I'm too paranoid that he will scoot out of the house, or he will get himself in trouble with a stranger in the house. While these people are bonded, I'm still not comfortable. I have nice things and wouldn't want to lock up everything. I know he is completely safe at the kennel--I've known the owners and used them for 30 years. My daughter and I both thought staying with her would be great. She was raised around yorkies, so she knows the whole tiny dog routine. |
I can remember babysitting kids like that when I was a teen!!! lolol While mom and dad were home...they were absolute angels and as soon as their heels were out the door....off went the wings and the horns popped out!! lmao |
