How do I keep my puppy entertained? I just got a 15 week old yorkie. She is as sweet as ever, but she is driving my DH up a wall. Today, she chased a bird, peed on the floor and chewed a hole in the baby gate that keeps her from roaming the house. She has a ball, at least 2 squeaky toys and a bottle in a sock. But it's like she's a kid with ADD. How do I keep her entertained for more than 30 seconds? |
Puppies have the attention span of a gnat! Get a bigger variety of toys even if you makeshift w/some home made ones. Old socks tied in a knot, etc. Favorites are squeaky toys. Teach 'fetch' & other tricks. Take for walks if she's had all her shots. The first few months are the busiest, but she's got a lot of puppiness left in her before she gets to that point. Tell dh to hang in there, it should be better once you get past these first few months. |
Plenty of toys and I also recommend bully sticks as they are teething and love to chew, keeps them entertained for a while! ;) |
I will double that...Plenty of toys. So many that your friends think you've gone nuts. But make sure they are safe. Cerise has many stuffed animal toys and squeaky toys. When I get home in the evenings from work ALL of them are spread out over the entire downstairs...LOL I pick them up and put them all together at night. She even sleeps curled up in the bed with one of them...a pink pig. If I move it she graps it and puts it back on her blanket  |
You get them a playmate. :D I got Rily a little sister...perfect! :D |

She's only 15 weeks old and she needs lots of human interaction and attention. If she peed on the floor, then that is not surprising since she is only 15 weeks old. Give her a bully stick to chew on and perhaps she won't chew the house to bits. |
When I'm on the computer working, I spread her toys out and she runs from one to the other. Must haves: Squeaky, furry things (I have about 6) Knotted rope toys balls (she loves to play fetch) Ice cubes! Teddy bear (she "dominates" him, hahaha!) When I'm watching TV, she'll curl up with a bully stick and eventually fall asleep :) |
A kong with a treat inside might help. |
I bought her a stuffed squeaky bird, a kong, a small squeaky duck and a chew bone. She seems to be happy now. The real test will be tomorrow while I'm at school and my DH is working at home. |
