don't leave your pets in the car I was at the target near me, when i heard the cashier and security person talking. A woman left her yorkie in her car. A man saw it and broke in the car and stole the yorkie. Please don't leave animals in your car! This is terrible. I never leave my dogs alone in the car. I don't know anymore details, but I thought this could serve as a reminder of what can happen. I hope she gets her dog back, but I doubt it. |
Wow. That's a horrible way to learn that lesson. |
why would anyone do this???? how so very sad for that baby!!! People are ignorant! |
I agree with this, and lets not forget that cars get overly hot with windows up, we lose so many dogs this way. Even our police department has lost several dogs from being left locked in a closed car, it's really sickening to know that a dog had to suffer like this. If they weren't so well trained, they'd probably barked their heads off. |
That's sad.:( It's also something I never do. You read of it happening occasionally. Somebody bashes in a window and steals the yorkie. I couldn't take it and so if I want to go to a store and can't take her, then I leave her home where she's as safe as she can be. |
I could never leave my furbabies in the car....I live way out of town and boy would it be more convenient, to leave them in the truck and get what I need when in town....BUT WOULD NEVER, EVER do that! Some ppl are just stupid! |
Good reminder. Would you leave $600 of cash lying around in your car? Yet people will leave a small, valuable dog there. I NEVER, EVER leave Thor alone in the car, or outside a store. He could get taken in an instant. As Nancy1999 said, dogs can also overheat very quickly. They do not sweat, so they are more sensitive to heat than we are, and can die even in a car that we would not find all that hot. |
how sad!!! I don't leave my boys in the car alone, mostly because if I take them with me, they go wherever I'm going. If they aren't going in with me, they stay home. Hoping for the best for that lady and her stolen baby! |
I cannot imagine leaving them in the car. I feel guilty when I run back in the house for something I forgot and they are in my driveway! They just look so sad when I get out and then they go nuts when I get back in. |
Thanks for the heads up love. Hugs Shirl x x |
This is especially why I am so glad I got a Kwigy Bo carrier. We like to take Max and Twinkie almost everywhere, now ignito. I hope they get their furbaby back. Pam |
Dognappers I thought of posting this on the regional forum but thought it was a good reminder to all. On the news yesterday there was an alert issued for dog owners in western Michigan. A group called supporting shelters called Pound Buddies are trying to get the word out after police received several reports of stolen dogs. There have been a rash of dognapping especially small expensive dogs. Dog owners were warned that a woman and man in a white van are going around this part of the state taking small dogs for the purpose of breeding and selling the pups. One little 8 year old girl was in her front yard with her new little French Bulldog puppy when a man came out of the van and actually ripped the little dog right out of her arms. :( These little dogs are also being stolen out of fenced yards while the owners are at home. Just a reminder to always keep your puppies within reach and keep children with dogs supervised. This man could just as easily taken the child, too. |
Dognappers Sorry, double post |
Very good warning - applicable to predators and heat I can't leave Remy even if I wanted to he knows how to lock and unlock the doors - which is a problem no matter how you look at it |

I do agree that for some people leaving a dog in a car is bad, and in Austin this happens a lot and a lot of people have started doing this. BUT, I drive a Mercedes and they come with a feature that allows you to have a continuous temperature for 30 min after you turn the car off...for this purpose. You just press a button and it's great!!! So if I make a quick trip into a store and come out to find my car window broken, or my baby not in her car seat  because some person panicked I will be VERY upset and take legal action against them. I might add people here do it and call the police for animal abuse mostly not stealing. |
