Doggie Strollers? I have seen these really cute dog strollers and was wondering if anyone has one and if they ever use them. My husband and I have friends who always walk their goldendoodle puppy...we would like to walk with them, but their puppy is still very rambunctious and I do not want my new furbaby to get hurt. I am thinking of getting a doggie stroller to walk with them after she has had all of her vaccinations. Any thoughts? BTW..my husband thinks I am nuts!!:animal-pa |
Down with doggie strollers! :thumbdown I'm with your husband. I have seen people out with them and they look even more ridiculous then I even thought possible. BUT having said that, I do know that that there are people on here who have them ~ that's just my opinion. We're all entitled to our own! |
I love mine & your reason is the perfect reason. Dogs need exercise but there are some times where they can come out with us but cant be on the ground This is alot better then them being in a tiny bag or stuck at home. |

I'm kinda a neutral party when it comes to strollers. I don't really understand the purpose but am starting to. I was at the doggy mall this past weekend and a lady with 3 dogs (a bit much for her to handle) had them in a stroller which I guess would make it easier to bring all 3. But when I see people walking dogs in a stroller, I wonder why the dog isn't walking as well. I realize the dog could be injured, pregnant etc though. I used to think carriers were semi-strange as well and look at me now!! I am buying outfits to match my new fab Kwigy Bo carrier & scheming where I can sneak Snickers into LOL!!!! He is very comfortable in his carrier and now gets excited when he sees it!! I would not put him in if he felt squished, and believe me-he would let me know! I'm anxious to see other responses. 3 Attachment(s) I have one and LOVE it. I'm sorry but, there are times a 3-4 pound dog gets tired much quicker than you do. We do a lot of stuff in the summer and I love the fact that I can take all of them, put them in the stroller (there are also 4 safety hooks) and not have to worry about someone snatching them, or people touching them and wanting to pick them up and they can rest if they want to. People can make fun if they want, I really don't care. I get made fun of all the time because of how much I love my babies. I think about their comfort and well-being more than what people think about me. Post people just go crazy at how cute it is. :D I attached a couple pics of mine from the first day I got it. |
IMO if your dog has all its shots and you introduce the dogs appropriately and keep them a leash-distance apart you wouldn't need a stroller. It would be great for your pup to walk and get exercise. I know some people have them for elderly or injured dogs who can't walk long distances, but with a puppy that probably wouldn't be a problem. I have a 4.5 pound and almost 6 pound yorkie and they both walk a 4 mile circle with no problem.... the puppy still has energy to play after:rolleyes: |

I have this same stroller and love it!! It is very hard sometimes to shop at the pet store with 4 babies. The stroller is great! With 4 hooks they can all be in there and I can get what I need. I also take them with me to more places. I can now take them to flea markets and out door events. Where as, many of those places wont allow dogs otherwise. My hubby plays baseball and they say no dogs on the field, but when they are in the stroller it is no big deal. I love it & I dont care who thinks it is stupid. I have found it to be very valuable!!!! |
I have a baby stroller that i put mesh over because i have 3 dogs and my boyfriend has 2 small ones and we love to take them to the pet store and out to the walking track in the park and out door events in the summer i love the stroller (there are pics in my profile) i only use it if we are going out somewhere i would not substitute a stroller ride for a normal walk but its better to be safe then sorry when dealing with pups. |
I didn't think that I would every need a stroller when I had one, but with 2 it makes it so much easier to handle both of them when I take them out. There are times that a stroller is nice if you want to take them with you. Walking and strollers are 2 different things. For me, a stroller is used when I need to keep an eye on them in a situation where having them running around is not a smart thing, not for taking them out in, in place of their daily walks. |
I just love my stroller and don't know what I'd do without it! I have 3 small one's who love to go for walks, But, Sophie Kennedy wears out first and I put her in the stroller and the boys walk on either side. I secretly think she thinks she the PRINCESS and they're job is to pull her!! She sits in there as proud as can be looking around @ everyone...She's our Queen Bee! When we go to the Park or out other places it's a safe place for all 3 where people don't ask to hold them,Pick them up or take them! I feel they're much safer in there with the mesh closed and zipped around them and 4 secure hooks to keep them all safe and happy when out in a crowded area! I said I'd never use one But, It's better to be safe than sorry! These are the first small dogs I've ever had and they're alot more likely to get stepped on,dropped or worse, So, IMO their stroller is a God Send for us!! Thank-You to Sophie Kennedy's first Mommy Linda for sending it to us!! It is the nicest gift we've recieved and is used all the time!:):) |
I have a pink stroller for Roxy, and trust me... it is one of the best things I ever invested in, it even has cupholders! lol The reason its so great is not only because sometimes Roxy just gets tired of walking and needs a rest and we still want to walk...BUT... There have been MANY situations where irresponsible dog owners did NOT have THEIR dogs on a leash. Plus, who knows if the other ppl got their dogs shots and whatnot. I dont take the chance at ALL! Then, it also lowers the chance of someone coming up and stealing your baby! Roxy is always on a leash to prevent that... but the stroller is just one more obstacle that can keep their hands off my little baby. The stroller keeps her safe from another dog coming up and grabbing her or getting too close... After what happened with my Chico, no chance I would go somewhere heavily populated with dogs and not take my stroller, especially on hot days. We usually just do the leash/harness, but the stroller is ALWAYS a great option when we need it... or when we want to sneak her into a store by pretending she is a sleeping baby and putting a blanket over the front... lol. But more for her protection than anything, thats whats important... I dont care if ppl think I look ridiculous. At least I know my baby is safe. |
I agree with Roxie's Mommy... I've had people say things about my using a Stroller! It's tan and doesn't look any different than a Child's Stroller. But, Let them talk. I know my guys are safe and it takes alot of stress off when you have them outside! It's better to be safe than sorry! So, Let them talk!!:) |

I for one just can't get into the doggie stroller thing. Makes no sense to me. Just my opinion. 4 legs to walk on. I ordered a travel bag for Jemma and with it they sent me a free stroller. Out in the garbage it went. Didn't even open it. But everyone has to do what is right for them. |
