Well, I never did either, but after considering their comfort, and how much they love to go with us, I think a stroller makes them much happier. They love to get in it and snuggle together for a nap. They still get on the ground and play, but when they are trying to rest, that is when people seem to always want to come up and pet them. In the stoller, with the mesh zipped, they can have their rest time in peace. LOL:D |

I never thought I would own one, nor did my boys' other caretaker (my senior citizen father), but when we added the second dog we both decided the stroller was a good idea. |

Hey girl We have the Jeep wrangler and I love it but I do admit most of the year it sits in the closet. BUT I do put good use to it in the summers during street fairs,etc when i take more than 1 dog and I don't want them getting stepped on in the street. Since you live in L.I. I think you could put good use to it but cause you'll only have 1 dog I don't think it will be THAT necessary but it's always good to have. I love the jeep wrangler btw. |

I think that you are all missing the point in that those of us who have strollers are not just using them to take our dogs around in. The dogs still walk and use their 4 legs but there are times, especially if you have more than 1, that having them contained and safe within a stroller for instance, is a much better thing. For instance, we went trick or treating with the neighborhood kids this past year. It was kinda chilly and it was a little chaotic so once it got dark and really chilly, it was nice to put them in the stroller to walk back home. I didn't have to worry about them being too cold or lagging behind; and in my case, Hot Rod gets spooked walking in the dark so half the time I wind up carrying him anyway. Another time that I used to stroller was when I stopped by petsmart and I was by myself with both of them. I was glad that I had the stroller in the car because when I got there, there were probably 20 other dogs there and about 50 people in the store. I was glad that I didn't have to try and control 2 small yorkies in that mess as well as try and carry my purchases. Shoot, we walk anywhere from 2 -3 miles a day, depending on weather in my neighborhood alone! By no means do we use the stroller in place of walking or exercising. And I don't think that anyone else who has a stroller does either. |

I agree It's like Double the outing they wouldn't get to have if we didn't have a stroller. |
I understand ppls concern about the dog getting exercise... and that it has 4 legs... but... so do kids, and they have strollers. The reason for a stroller is not so you dont have to exercise them... :rolleyes: Of course you can take them for walks and such, Roxy walks all around like crazy... but we keep the stroller in the back of the car for several reasons. 1. I dont trust other pet owners. When there are other very large dogs around and you never know when one of them will get out of control or some idiot will think his dog at the park doesnt need a leash cause "he usually stays near him all the time!" 2. Lots of children. Anytime there are lots of kids, there are lots of bounding feet all around. 3. The weather is VERY hot, it makes for great shade, and Roxy's poor little pads cant handle the hot cement. People need to be mindful of their dogs poor little feet too, you have shoes, maybe your dog will wear them, but Roxy wont, she hates them... I've tried. 4. Roxy loves going places, and I know for a fact when she is here, she isnt as happy and isnt getting as much exercise. She gets to walk around for a bit, and when she is panting and hot, I can put her in her stroller to get out of the heat and get a drink... when it starts raining, which has happened to me many times, I can put her in her stroller and it has a waterproof liner you can put over it, and she stays nice and dry. 5. You never know when the guy walking down the road might grab the dog AND the leash out of your hands. It may not be likely, but just cause its not likely, doesnt mean its NOT possible. So many Yorkies are stolen... if my baby was grabbed Id think... "God, why didnt I do something else?"... I feel like she is much more safe in there with the leash and the stroller zipper shut. Having a stroller doesnt mean you give up walking... lol, they still get walked just as often, just use it when its called for. So, basically, I dont understand why ppl would think its ridiculous if it makes your baby safer... It is ridiculous to not take every precaution to protect them! If we say we love them like we love our children, then we should act like it. That means giving them the right diet, the right exercise, the right treatment... AND the right protection. Do what you think is in the best interest of your baby, not for the way you think other ppl will percieve you, cause when they are saying some jerks dog got their dog (God forbid), you can think... "Man, I am glad I got that stroller."... thats what I think at least when I hear about it on the news. I hope you go by your instincts and not by what ppl will think of it. We may only use it twice a year... but when we do, its well worth it... |
i don't use my for normal daily works because they too need their exercise....but however there are situations where a stroller would come in handy.... for instance we have this annual pet expo here ... and there are tons and tons of dogs....and being an pet expo i enjoy taking my Yorkie there but because of not knowing what all those other dogs may carry as in sickness or whatever or how they act around other animals and for as crowded as it is there...i would not like my Yorkies to get hurt! or for big meetups they work great also! btw the one that i have is this one http://cgi.ebay.com/Dog-Stroller-Pet...item2c531b631e i love the jogging type stroller for they get around easier...hehe |

I agree completely... I also love going to Pet Expos. They have one every year. I love taking Roxy, and she loves going, but I am always leary of the other owners and how well they take care of their babies. This is my stroller... Roxy's Pink Stroller (That is not me or Roxy... lol, but its the same stroller lol) I am thinking about getting the 3 wheel one as well... if I can find it in pink... lol :p |

People also think that doggy sunglasses are stupid too, and often look at me funny when they see Roxy in sunglasses. But if you look it up, its a proven fact that dogs eyes are just as susceptible to UV-A & UV-B damage. It is recommended on days that the UV is high and its very sunny that if you can get your dog to wear sunglasses that protect from these rays that you should. So, do I care when ppl say "How do you get her to keep them on?", "Thats so silly!", no, I dont... because I've done my research, and I know I am doing the right thing for my dog and her eyes, and Yorkies have enough problems with their eyes through aging without adding to it. I'd rather hear them and protect my babies, than put them in any kind of jeopardy to not hear it. Why do I care what a bunch of ppl I dont know or probably am never going to talk to again think? I don't. :p |

I really ♥ my stroller, we use it daily. I don't care what anyone thinks! Actually, I get quite a few compliments on it and how cute my girls look when they're going for a ride. We have the Petgear AT3 :thumbup: |
I love having a stroller. I have one 11 year old that tires easy and will walk a few blocks and then get in the stroller. On a 8 or more block walk they take turns in the stroller. It is awesome to be able to take lots of dogs at the same time. |

I'm not against strollers, per say. I can see it being used very occasionally... but I am *so* not for not allowing your dogs on grass, around other dogs, etc. Dogs are social creatures and I think some ppl isolate their dogs too much and don't allow them to be dogs. I am protective over Jackson: I scope every situation out first, I would never let him on the big dog side of the park if there's too many, etc, but my philosophy is you can't go around worrying and thinking that the worst is going to happen all the time. It's better to live a fulfilling life. You can always prevent certain things, but somethings you cannot. I often see that the highly overprotective people are the ones who end up having accidents happen often, and the more laid back nonchalant people don't. I think you need to find a good place in the middle. Let me add that I understand not everybody who puts their dogs in strollers don't exercise their dog. I think that's just an image that's put out there when the general public sees people walking along with their dogs in strollers because I know I used to think it. "What, the dog can't walk?" That type of attitude. I would only use a stroller for Jackson if he was injured, or when he gets old. For me personally, that's the only time I could ever see myself using one. He loves to walk and walk and walk though so I don't think he would stand for staying in a stroller anyways, lol. I've walked 4 dogs at one time all on leashes and they were all well behaving dogs, so it really wasn't that hard. |
I just bought a stroller for my dogs. I love to walk my Scottie and Mini Doxie, but my doxie don't do good on long walks, so the stroller will come in handy for her. I also have two Yorkies very small 4 & 3 pounds. I will also be using the stroller with them on my walks and outings. the other reason for the stroller we have a coyote problem. the coyotes are very bold and brave, so I keep the furbabies very close. My first dog stroller, my husband just laughs at me and I don't care what anybody else thinks. I'm looking forward to many happy walks with all my Furbabies. :rolleyes::):rolleyes: |
I'm on my second stroller and would never be without one. When we go to the mall, we can take them in every store as long as they are in the stroller. They are clipped in and I put the top down. Going to the outlet stores is the same. We walk them, but when we see a store we want to go in, we put them in the stroller. During the hot summer months when we go to the little beach towns, they go in the stroller to go into stores or when the asphalt is too hot for them. My Zada has had surgery on her knees twice and the stroller was perfect to go places in especially since her recovery periods were 8 weeks, both times. Also when we stop to eat at the outside eating areas at restaurants, they go into the stroller. Much better than having them get tangled up with table and chair legs. I'm not one for leaving my girls home if I can take them. This way I don't have to worry or feel sorry that they are left at home, and by taking them, we can all have such a good time. |
Well...I have mixed feelings about them. I do not have one, and probably will never have one, because they are sorta silly...strollers for dogs? HOWEVER - I can see where they would be convenient. I think they'd be convenient if you were going on a walk longer than your little one could handle, and you didn't feel like carrying them, or if you wanted to hide them while going into a store or hotel or something...most people who see those will assume it's a human child in the stroller. |

I have a pink petzip jogger and I love it!!! Laya gets plenty of exercise, but on some occasions it is so handy having the stroller. Today we went to the Super Pet Expo and there were so many people and so many dogs that it was nice having her up off the ground and not having to stop and sniff each and every dog in the place. If I didn't have the stroller I would have had to carry her becuase she would have gotten stepped on. Some people laugh, some make comments, but most of the small dog owners come up and ask where we got the stroller. And you can throw all of your junk underneath leaving you hands free. :D |
2 Attachment(s) I have one and I love it! I've had it since last fall and have only used it on trick or treat night! But I wish I would have taken it with me this past Saturday. I took Bijou to a jewelry party with me and there were some very rude little girls there who kept trying to get Bijou to bite their hands (they were putting their hands very fastly and closely to her mouth and pulling back) I asked them politely not to do this as she's just a pup and I wasn't sure she wouldn't snap a finger. They stopped, but I had to overly keep an eye on them as Bijou sat on my lap the whole time. After I went to an outdoor type of mall and there were so many people there it was hard to walk on the sidewalks. So I carried her there too. Next time we either take the stroller or Bijou will have to stay at home. I think you'll love a stroller. |
Okay, A THOUGHT TO CONSIDER... I have 5 yorkies ranging from 1 to 14 years. Two teacups and three regular. Two are sick with congestive heart failure. So how do I leave two pups at home while I take the other three??? I can't; I have carried little Bebe in a carry bag for the past year, and she puts up with not seeing well. So... now that I now have two that need to be carried I've decided to get a stroller. Yes they need their walks, but this way everyone still goes and enjoys!!! |
:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: Great idea :) |
