Welcome to YT! We have a mixed breed too. He is a Yorkie/Poodle mix and the light of our lives! :D

If your furbaby has even a smidgen of Yorkie, then she is welcome in my books. I just love all things to do with yorkies :D

Please show us some pictures! I looked at that other site and they a beautiful mix! I have seen people on this site with pugs and other dogs too.

And I'm sorry but I don't think they are "mongrels". They have been specifically bred because there is obviously a demand for them whether they are a recognised breed or not.

Good to see this comment. Demand determines the future. A mutt or mongrel is a dog of undetermined breed. A planned cross of two pure breds in not a dog of undetermined breed. It is cross a mix or hybrid if you like that term. Eventually some of these hybrids will be recognized as breeds. It has happened with other breeds and will continue to happen.

I really don't like those terms anyway. It reminds me of people getting their socks in a knot over mixed couples. We all know there is one race, the human race....You wouldn't call a person a mutt....(well decent people wouldn't)

Exactly...and you can pay a fortune for some of these "mongrels" because they are highly sought after. In the long run you will have a companion like no other whether they are Pure Bred or cross bred.

In fact when i was looking for a pup I consider a Yorktese (Maltese x Yorkie) and they grow up to be such cute little dogs :) I just love them all!

I have had registered schipperkes for the last 20 years. I just lost my last one on Feb 3rd. The house was way to quiet without him I had a chance to get a morkie and I fell in love with him. I really don't care if he is registered or not he still makes me smile every day and he loves me to death. Isn't that what we are all looking for anyway unconditional love?:p

Dogs are the only pets who love us more than they love themselves. Pure bred or Mongrel. Love knows no boundaries. I respect the AKC breeds. It helps to define the dog when you are choosing the right one for you. I'm pretty sure everyone on this forum thinks there baby is the best and they are probably right. I have a hobby farm full of critters. My dogs are the only ones that I believe truly love me. I got an e-mail forward one time that said if you want to know who truly loves you more unconditionally. Lock your dog and your spouse in the trunk of your car, come back in an hour and see which one is happy to see you.......

Aw Lilyanna is so cute! I love yorkies and westies...you got a great mix of personalities.

OK...so I love all critters so my opinion doesn't count for much!:p

I guess my opinion doesn't either. Last count on my farm 40+ individuals with names. I have one daughter living at home and a husband. My Lily is in charge of us all and I can't help it. I am a good pet for her.

I have a Fourche terrier too! Her name is Morgan and she is 5 months old now.

I disagree...my Fourche terrier is the best of both worlds. The coloring of a Yorkie and the hair and look of a Westie. Her attitude is definitely Westie until she comes across her Napoleon complex and then she's a Yorkie. But I love her more than I thought I ever could. She's my little princess!!

According to who? You have pure bred dogs and mutts. If someone doesn't "like the terms", well I suppose if you go looking to be offended over something, you won't be disappointed.

I love all dogs, have no problem with mutts. Have owned a few in my lifetime. (People purposely breeding them on the other hand is another thing...) Sorry, it just kills me every time I see someone get bent out of shape because they don't like the terminology used when referring to them.
