First bath! Just gave Ruger his first bath. Actually, this is the first time I've ever given any dog a bath. He looks hot! His hair straightened out and he doesn't look like a rat anymore and he smells good, not that he smelled bad before. I've got one of those flexible hoses with a shower head on the end. I just hosed him down with warm water in the tub and used some natural shampoo I got at the pet store. Lathered him up and then rinsed him off well then towel dried him. His coat is all shiny and soft now. Any tips for the next time? |
You might try a little hair conditioner, even Pantene works good for most yorkies. It just makes their hair softer, easier to manage and get any tangles out. Also I would recommend blow drying on a lower setting til completely dry. Any dampness will attract dirt and oil much more quickly than a dry coat does. Those flexible hoses are a great invention!:) |
Yup, we use conditioner on Buddy, and blow dry him. He's gotten to where he just loves the blow dryer. He'll sit there all day and let you blow dry him, so wierd. |
Thanks for the advice. I used something called Fluffy Puppy - a conditioning shampoo. I don't see how his coat can get any softer, and after a towel drying he had no tangles. Of course, he has a puppy cut and I have no idea what he'd be like to take care of if he had really long hair. |

I've got one of those too and Tobie hates it!! He's actually really good with baths but if I get that thing anywhere within his reach, he tries to bite it. LOL. |
