My BIG boy... continued!
 

So I posted a bit ago to say that my Fletcher who is going on 5 years old this September was fixed in January. In December he weighed 9lbs exactly. Beginning of Feb he weighed 10.5lbs and as of yesterday he was 11lbs!!!! This dog has gained 2 FULL lbs in 3 months!!! That is over 20% of his body weight!!!

Since he has been fixed hes gaining weight rapidly but even weirder is how vocal he has become! He looks up at us and barks his head off multiple times a day now. He is eating like a monster also! At 9lbs he was THIN, but at 10.5lbs he was a good weight, but at 11lbs hes starting to get a bit chunky! I feel horrible not feeding him because he has never been a big eater so when the bowl is empty I give him 'a little more' and 'a little more' .... well this last 15lb bag has only lasted about 6 weeks between both my boys, usually its about 2 - 2.5 months! Dexter, his brother has stayed the same weight at about 6lbs (they are brothers from the same liter too)

This is crazy! I told BF maybe I should take him in for a visit with the doctor just to make sure there is not something going on like a thyroid issue or something! I don't know... I'm just shocked at how big this boy has gotten in 3 months! He is completely active and lively and he had a checkup in January before his surgery!

I am finding the same problem with Peanut. He was neutered in December, I think, and he has gained quite a bit since then. I free feed puppy food to my girls but I'm going to have to switch to adult food and a feeding schedule or Peanut is going to explode!

Molly was 14 lbs when i rescued her, but slowly gained weight after she was spayed. In 2 years she had put on almost 4lbs!! :eek:
She partially tore her cuciate ligament in august last year, and the vet said she needed to lose weight. After 6 months of hard work, she has lost all the extra weight.
I did it by cutting down on her kibble and mixing it with some veg and a bit of boiled chicken..that way, she still has a dish full of food, but a lot fewer calories.
