our new BOY - Ralphie!
1 Attachment(s) thanks to everyone that helped me get here - from the "how to add a second pup" thread, to "what if I don't have enough love for two" to "boy concerns" to "12 week old girl pup or 1 yr old boy pup"...your thoughtful responses and the experiences you shared led to us making the decision to bring home 11 month old Ralphie! My next thread was going to be, what should we change his name to, but he has been Ralphie his whole life and we're calling him that and he answers to it, so Ralphie it is!
Ralphie was kept by his breeder as a show pup but that particular career isn't in the cards for him, so he joined our family yesterday as our new pet! Some of my concerns have come to pass (he is lifting his leg to everything) but I have learned here the beauty and function of a belly band and we'll be fine!!
To those that said that it would be better to add a 1 yr old than a new baby pup to my 6 yr old, you were spot on, they are fine together and have been from the moment they met - I am SO thankful to this forum I wouldn't have taken him if I didn't have your advice...I absolutely would have passed on him and gotten the baby girl in May. And he is perfect, cute, loving, so far so so good other than housebreaking and I am totally committed to it and we will work it out eventually :)
Thanks again to the members of this forum that took the time to teach me - I am so so happy to have this little guy in our lives and you played a huge part in getting us here!
