Dog Park Tragedy This happened at a dog park not far from where I live. :( Dog killed at new downtown Tampa park | abcactionnews.com |
How sad. |
How sad for Moby's owners. I can't believe they aren't willing to make any changes in the park...it only makes sense to have the areas divided according to the size of the dog. Yet another reason for me to never take my babies to a dog park. |
How terribly tragic. :( That's why it's sooo nice having a small dog section and a large dog section at our dog park. I take Jackson every week in the warmer weather and can't imagine if he had to share it with the larger dogs! |
dog parks I have a question about dog parks. I have never taken any of my dogs to a dog park, mainly because there weren't any close by. Now where we live there are two that are close but I worry about taking Belle there. Not only the fact the she only weighs 6 pounds but also what about dog diseases? Belle has had all her shots but who knows if other dogs have or ane healthy or not? I almost lost my Lab to parvo and I know that at her weight Belle would not survive it. I even hate the thought of boarding her somewhere, my husband gets frustrated as I won't board her so we don't go some places he'd like to go. |

Wow I'm afraid of the dog parks I took Timba to the dog park maybe 3x and I was terrified all these pit bulls and large dogs come over to him and he gets scared and so do I ..... I think I'll take him just to a regular park and play with him myself.... I would die if anything happened to him.. he is my entire life... I love him so very very much..... |
I have taken mine to a couple of dog parks. We had positive and not so positive times. We've met up with Brister from time to time. :) And like she said, most of the people follow the rules. Now having said that, the last time we were at my local park, I was very dissappointed in that there was obviously some people who did not clean up after their dogs! That is just rude and unnecessary but it had only been that 1 time that I can say it was like that. There was another time that there was a larger dog in the small dog area but she said that the others had invited her in there, but I felt that as more people arrived, she should have excused herself and her larger dog. My poor Maggie May was scared of the dog as that dog kept barking at her. I had met up with some friends and fortunately their dog kinda protected Maggie from that dog. We didn't stay very long that day. So you just have to be aware that there may be some times that may not go as planned but overall I enjoy taking them to the park as they enjoy running around. :) Just keep at good eye out at all times. :) |
All our local dog parks are separated for small dogs (under 25 lbs) and big dogs. But if your yorkie is 3 lbs and is up against a 25 lbs dog, that is still a big difference! Also, one park in Irvine, several dogs got sick after a meetup, so yes it is possible. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/cal...-dog-park.html Also, please keep in mind that Britster's dog park is like the 3rd best in the country, so she is very lucky, and I am super jealous. Most dog parks are not that nice, and most people that frequent them are not as responsible as in her area. So be careful, be UTD on shots. We do the same thing as Timba212, go to a regular park and throw the ball around. Uni doesn't play well with other dogs anyway. Well other than Kaji of course! |
That's so sad! All the parks I go to have a big and small dog park. Most ppl go to the big dog area..I will only do that sometimes..if I see no dogs that are harmful and i keep mine on a leash |
Omg so sad.. Well I cant even begin to to comprehend how much pain that family is feeling.:( And for the last week all I kept saying was I couldn't wait till spring hits so more doggies will be out at the dog park, so I can take Chloe for the first time.... |
So sad:( |
The poor couple. What a horrible way to lose a pet. |
I will never take chester to a dog park, not even a small section Im to paranoid something will happen |
How tragic for that little Shih-Tzu, and I can't imagine what that dad felt when he saw his only child in that big dogs mouth. Just thinking of anything like that happening to any of mine just makes me almost sick. I've never taken mine to any dog park, and have no plans to ever take them. We have doggie play-dates each month, and they have walks, and other outings, which is safe. When you frequent dog parks, make sure you take a fecal sample to your Vet. about every six months. |
just saw this....how horrifying! :( |
Now im nervous about taking Paris to the dog park, i cant explain what havoc i would reek if some elses pet hurts mine. My best bet is to keep her close to home. Its the only way i will feel comfortable and keep her safe. |
What a tragedy. I thought dog parks was a great idea when I first read about them years ago. Discussing this with my vet, at the time, he thought they were not such a good idea. Not all dog owners at the same of course. Some don't get the needed shots, other's don't care what their dog does. He discouraged me from going. Two neighbor's, one with small s**t-zu the other, don't know her but see her walking like she owns the place has a pit bull. The pit attacked the poor s**t-zu and took it's eye out right in front of them. The pit owner apoligized and left! Refused to pay medical expenses as well. She also moved soon after. If you have a nice one, know the people who go there I still think it a nice idea to let your dog be free but if you don't know the owner's I would not go. To many things can happen to small dogs. |
Yea, I don't think Lucy will ever get to experience the dog park. I am too afraid of something like this happening :( I feel so bad for the family. They are in my thoughts and heart! :heart toKandi |
