More than one??? I lost my Yorkie of 15-1/2 years, last year, and I only ever had her. Now I have my boy who is 1 and I am thinking of getting a little girl, as company for him, as I work in the summer. My question is will it change the relationship I have with him? He is close with me, and sleeps beside me. I am very happy with how we are - I wouldn't like it if he became more attached to the little girl!!! |
I started with just Joey, and he was my first dog since my last one had died a few years before. He was my husband's first dog ever. We were both 20, by the way :) When we got Tank, I was worried that one of my dogs would become the favorite, and the other one would be left out...I also feared that Joey would be so jealous he wouldn't like me anymore. I love both my boys SO much, and I have a very close relationship with each. Tank is VERY attached to me, and he's closer to me than anyone, but Joey is a very social dog, and he likes pretty much anyone. other than the fact that Tank is more of a cuddler, they're both about the same. They always get the same amount of treats, toys, and love, and they do just fine. Joey actually came up and cuddled me today though, which was very nice. He has his days where he will cuddle...I would say that if you want another one, get another one :D |
You will just have 2 that will be attached to you but they will also have each other to play with. |

I have a girl and a boy and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's just like if you had 2 children - you don't love one more - you just love them differently. Double your pleasure - you won't regret it. I honestly believe that it is better to have 2 dogs - especially if you work. |

I totally agree I have a boy and a girl and wouldn't have it any other way:) |
Yes, then I think I will start looking for a little girl......Mr. Darcy loves playing with my friend's Yorkie, and he also loves playing with my son's (we are in Florida right now at his place) cat. I live 2 hours north of Toronto, so it is a little more difficult to locate and go and see puppies, maybe I will wait for the Spring, so I don't have to travel in snow!!!!!:D |
I have two, a boy and a girl, and I was worried about them liking each other, more than me...They, totally, like me the best...lol...In fact, sometimes there is a ruckus over who gets my lap, and sometimes one gets the lap, and the other has to settle for the thighs lol...The ONLY drawbacks, w/2, for me, is it's harder to walk two, and I don't take both of them everywhere I go, like I used to w/one, because it's harder packing up, getting out the door, and buckled into their car seat (I need three hands)...But more than that, at the end of the road, the people you are visiting may not be as receptive to two little yorkies buzzing around there house, instead of one lol...Having given you all the cons, I, definitely, think it's better for both of them to have two, especially if you work...If you have one, be prepared to spend all your spare time playing w/one, because they seem to need to play, the whole time they are awake, and you get nothing done in the house...Well, at least I didn't...lol... |
I love having two - they are both equally attached to me, but in different ways. They both cuddle with me at every opportunity. For me the good thing about having two is that they entertain and play with each other when I'm in a not so playful mood or if I'm busy. |
