the scare of my life I got a phone call yesterday that my mom found a capsule that looked like her sleeping pills next to Wyatt and half of the capsule was gone and there was powder on the floor. I just about died. I told her to get the pup to the vets asap and I quickly left from work to go to the vet and meet them there. Thankfully she got him there in time. They gave him a shot to make him vomit and then gave him charcoal to absorb any medincine that didn't get vomited. Thank God he was saved. They kept him all day just to watch him should he need any futher support and again, thank God, he didn't. I have never been so stressed as I was yesterday. Boy what a scare these babies can give you when something goes wrong. Accidents happen and this could have been fatal had she not seen him chewing on something. He is never let in her bedroom for just that reason and he got in, found the pill on the floor where it had been dropped. My mom was as distressed as I was and we were both relieved that it turned out so well. This could have ended his life. I feel like a really bad mom and I know we have all learned a lesson. |
Jacquie, please do not beat yourself up! Thankfully Wyatt is okay! But even as close of an eye that we can keep on these little boogers, if determined enough, they will get into trouble. Thank goodness your mom saw Wyatt. :) Now you can calm down and take a deep breath! Hugs to you. :) Bo |
Thanks, Bo It truly was the scare of my life. I cried hysterically. When I reached the vets they all thought I was going to have a heart attack. Everyone came around me to calmed me down. Boy I hope I never have to go thru anything like that again. I was just so lucky, as you said that my mom saw him chewing on something or who knows how this would have ended. $75.00 later we are all happy again. By the way he slept really good last night maybe he needed some rest and that's why he chewed on the pill (just kidding) |
Bless your heart! I'm sure that was the scare of your life. Thankfully, it worked out and he is ok. Early last year a lady here was taking care of her husband who had terminal cancer and their tiny yorkie apparently found one of his pills. Anyway, they found her passed away. The lady was pretty sure that was what had happened. It was really hard on her, because she lost her lil yorkie and then her husband right after that. |
I am so glad everything turned out ok :aimeeyork |
wow im glad he is okay i have ulcer medicine that says on the label "keep away from pets, highly toxic." and it worried me soo much i keep it in the locking glove box in the car. but wouldn't you know Gatsby ate all the tums in my bag instead ill tell you if they think they need to eat something they will jump threw hoops (or on top of dressers and nightstands) to get it |
Glad to hear everything turned out well xo |
I am so glad your baby is going to be ok. You may have read my post a few weeks ago where my Yorkie got into my husbands medication (anti-inflammatory) and he passed away. He was in and out of the hospital for 3 weeks. I was at work when it happened and my daughter called to tell me...I was driving like a maniac trying to get to him and I was 40 miles away. It's hard to drive when you are crying and hysterical. It truly is a big big scare. Unfortunately, mine did not end well. I've been beating myself up too so I know how you feel..but you really shouldn't. They are just so quick to get into stuff and it only takes a second. It's an accident that could happen to anyone on here. |
Wow! So glad your mom saw him chewing on something. I worry myself sick sometimes about Reesie eating something he shouldn't. Glad everything turned out okay.:) |
Thank God fast action saved him. I alway keep hydrogen peroxide at home so I can induce vomiting if needed. Just 2 weeks ago I accidently gave Pixe Cali's strong immune suppressing allergy pill and immediately induced vomiting with the HP. |
