Dolce & Roman will they stop already?? We have Dolce 11 weeks old and just adopted Roman 8 months from the human society. Well they like to run around the house like 2 crazy kids on sugar. One thing that is really bothersome is Dolce will bite Roman and wants to play. But they play too rough. When Roman runs away Dolce hightails it after him. It scares me that one of them will get hurt. They have been doing this the last few days. But at night they sleep nice and quietly with eachother. Any advice or help would be great :) |
let me know if you find a way austins still not loose all day cause of that they dont stop |
No, they won't do it forever. It's just a case of what I call "the puppies"! :D I don't remember when Muffin stopped running like that. It will end, though. I wouldn't worry too much about them getting hurt. They are both old enough that they have quick reaction time and will probably "put their brakes on" soon enough. Kacee still does that and she's 6 months old. She'll go running through the house and sometimes jump up on the bed with the stairs by it and go rolling across the bed! :D I just hope she doesn't roll off onto the floor, but they're more flexible than we give them credit for, too. I used to have a chihuahua that did that and I can still remember that we said it sounded like a herd of elephants running through the house! :D We couldn't believe anything so little could make that much noise... |
The running is crazy. But they bite eachother and then Dolce won't stop. Dolce (11 week puppy) jumps on him and he won't sop. I try and give them chew toys and bones to play with. Roman gets really mad. I even gave Dolce a timeout in the bathroom away from Roman. He came out and started again. I just don't want Dolce to get too aggresive towards him and other dogs. Roman will jump up on me to help him. Roman is 10 times bigger than Dolce...lol Any help is great :) |
Yeah. I know he's just an 11 week old puppy. The only advice I can give you is to handle it as best you can for now and you are right to deal with Dolce to stop him from being aggressive. Kacee is now 6 months old. Thank goodness! I didn't know if I was going to survive. LOL If you can just continue for a couple of more months - if you can live through it - I think you'll have the worst of it beat! I know! Two months seems like forever right now, doesn't it? :D |
My babies are 7 months (Ruby) and 6months (valentino/Pom) and Ruby still harasses him she is so mean to him and he is such a sweet boy. She can't stand me petting him cause she will bite him and sometimes makes him cry but now I am taking things more into control cause she can't keep doing this. I don't like it. :animal36 |
Haha this is the same problem we are having at my house! |
They will stop eventually, but not for a LONG time!!! Sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear. My pups drive us nuts doing the EXACT same thing! They have plenty of toys too, but their favorite toy is each other. Oh, up and down off the couch, fighting, rolling and tumbling, biting, growling, snatching toys from each other (doesn't matter that there's enough for 10 dogs; they want the one toy the other has), up on our laps, back down, and then.....it starts all over again! I am very cuatious with my 10.5 week old pup around the 4 month old ones. Poor Tiah (their mother) doesn't like to be around them anymore, they are just too rough with her. |
We had the same problem with Gracie and Sammie. The trainer and the vet told us that as long as there is no blood, stay out of it and let them work it out and ultimately they will grow out of that phase. They still play fight, but it is not so vicious now as Sampson is now as big, if not bigger, than Gracie. There is hope!! |
It's Puppy Play, It will look like they are hurting each other, but I bet their just playing. Hang in there! :) |
Mac & Mellie love to play like that everynight. Usually right before bed time. It amazed me how fast they can run it sounds like we have a thourgh (sp) horse track in our house. Sometimes I get a little nervous about the "play Biting" and if seems a little to agressive I will tell them to Knock it Off and they will stop. |
It sounds like you are doing the right thing, it just takes time. Tucker still goes crazy on Rusty and it makes me nuts. I'm always afraid Tucker will get hurt. But boys will be boys and they do play rough. When it gets to be too rough I just seperate them for a little while. |
