Oh my goodness!!! These stories are horrifying!!!! We watch Sophie when she goes out, but I'll make sure we watch her closer!!! Thanks for the tips! |
We have lots of coyotes here, and some of my friends walk their dogs carrying guns (not the dogs, my friends). If you put up a fence make sure the fence is also built to keep the coyotes out. The pepper spray is a good idea, but while I won't say your dog is completely safe, coyotes really don't like people, even if they have a snack on the end of a leash. Try to avoid dusk and dawn, when coyotes are most active. I'm in Colorado, and I've only heard about pets vanishing that were out in the yard on their own or got out unleashed. I would definitely be careful, but I think there are more crazy stories out there than actual incidents. I've been here over 30 years now, and I have yet to see a baby being carried off by an eagle. |

YorkieUSA, you are so right about snakes and creatures...I live in the woods and nighttime is soooo dark here....this is why I prefer piddle pads. |

Well I been going out with my dogs every day I have a little kit I bring out with me my pepper spray a bat and these poppy fire crackers I am going to get a big dog cage I think that has a top.it would be much easier and safer if I let them potty on a wee wee pad or grass but I tried it in past and they don't like it much and it smells i'm a clean freak it drives me nuts. I might put one in the garage if anything. I feel bad that we have to kill them but they have no natural preditors we have to step In and control there population. |
We have coyotes, BEARS, bobcats and everything in between....thus we don't take our furbabies outside...they use puppy pads...in fact Shays feet have never hit the ground outside...we take him with us, when visiting my kids upnorth but again inside, not outside. Oh how I would love to take a walk outside with them, but not worth taking a chance...I would never forgive myself if something happened |
