Grooming Examples Trixie is going to the groomer this afternoon for the first time (she's 7 months). I want to keep her hair longer, because she has a beautiful silky coat. And I love the little pony tail she has. So I won't do a puppy cut. But she definately needs a cut around her eyes, ears, paws and butt. Are there any special instructions I should give the groomer? Is there a website with examples that I could take with me? |
I would definitely take a picture and be VERY specific about your instruction about what you do and DO NOT want cut! If you are going to keep her hair longer and in the little top knot I would rethink having her cut around the eyes. Once you have it cut, it seems it takes forever to grow back out should you change your mind. I always make sure I tell my groomer do NOT cut around the eyes....she did a while back on Bitsy and I still cannot get that hair up in her bow bow ;) But the tips of the ears, paws and neatened up around the feet, and a sanitary cut on the bum bum is good also :) Just be specific and take a picture with you! It took me three or four groomer trips before I found one I was happy with. Post pics after she gets groomed! :) |

Shave Top 1/3 of ears Pluck inside the ear Sanitary cut on tummy Shave a LITTLE on their butt Shape feet and trim under them Clip nails Tell them.....Cut as per YOUR directions - not what they think looks good Type it up and TAKE IT WITH YOU |
I took in pictures of what I wanted Yoda to look like...They still cut off the Top Knot hair :( but it is growing back! I wish I would have typed out the instructions for them, I think that it would have saved the hair on top. |
Definitely type up your directions, and make a copy for you and the groomer. I specified getting the hair out of Olivia's ears, sanitary cut, trim the paw area, etc., but my groomer said most of my instructions were part of the regular grooming. I would call and ask them what is included in their grooming package and go from there. The extras I have done are check and express anal glands, brush teeth, and trimming the hair on the ears. I printed out a picture of Vilette's Chanel (hope you don't mind) and wrote instructions right on the photo. It worked great and I loved Krishna's cut. I will be taking it with me when Kita takes her first trip to the groomers also :D |
