taught her shake! I have taught Callie to shake! I'm so happy she already knew how to lay down, sit, stay, up and come that she all learned in puppy class when she was a puppy. Callie is so smart and not teaching her tricks and stuff seems like such a waste. I had started teaching her shake before she hurt her leg but when she hurt her leg I stopped not wanting to hurt her more so I broke out the treats last night and we worked on it again and shes got it I gave her a treat this afternoon and told her to shake and she did it right away! I feel so proud. I bought a book a few days ago when I went to petco so I can teach her some more tricks. Shes so bored and depressed with all this snow that it seems like the perfect time to do some training. |
Good girl Callie you are so smart!:aimeeyork |
My wife traine Max to give a high 5....when he throws up that tiny legs it is something else. He spins 360 degrees 3 times to get a treat. They are smart little guys. Stubborn sometimes, but smart. They know how to work you and get what they want. Ours makes a sneezing sound when she wants attention.....It works, she has us trained. I am just glad she does not weigh 125 pounds or I would not have a chance. |
Aww, good job Callie! I agree, these little guys are soo smart. |
Tricks are so darling. :) For Wylie's obedience class at our local Humane Society, he had to learn a trick for graduation - and we taught him "TOUCHDOWN!" - which means he goes up on his back legs and reaches his front legs super high into the air to signal a touchdown! Once, my in-laws were dogsitting him for about a week and they were watching a football game - and they'd yell TOUCHDOWN when their team would score (but they didn't know about Wylie's trick, of course) - and there Wylie would go - right along w/ the Refs on TV - my in-laws called us and were all "Does Wylie UNDERSTAND football???". |
Now you need to work with her on the "Timeout" and "out of Bounds" Sign. |

That is just hilarious, Oh goodness could you please get a video of it sometime, that should be on TV!! LOL:D |
AWESOME! Go Callie! Tricks are soooo much fun for both human & dog. Try 101 Dog Tricks by Kyra Sundance. Great step-by-step book, real easy to teach/learn. She's got them all labeled under "easy" "intermediate" etc. Surprisgnly, Jackson seems to learn the expert and intermediate tricks faster  he does everything backwards. He's got about 20 tricks learned from that book. 'Shake' him took him weeks to learn as a pup, yet gettng me a tissue when I sneeze took him 5 minutes. Jackson loves when I say "ya wanna do some tricks?" because he knows he's getting treats. :) We have our trick training time every night. I agree about not letting their smartness go to waste! |
