Nails bleeding from being cut to short! I took my yorkie in to get his nails cut this morning. All seemed to be fine but this afternoon I noticed he didnt want to play as much as normally. I bathed him about an hour ago and when I was blow drying him I noticed blood on the towel. Two of his nails on the back feet are cut really short and are red, Its not constantly bleeding but does anyone know how long it takes to stop. Its been 12 hours already since he got them trimmed at the vets this morning. I sure am gonna call and give them a peace of my mind tomorrow. They didnt even tell me they cut them that short because this time they took him to the back without me! |
that has always been my worry! So sorry for your baby.... |
They really should have stopped bleeding by now. Do you have any styptic powder on hand, that will help stop the bleeding. |

Cut up some old socks and using just the toe portion cover his feet with them, you can use bandage tape to hold them on. |
Poor Little Guy If you don't have any of the powder...Try holding a slightly moist tea bag to his little toenail. I know this sounds crazy but years ago when I worked in a dental office we recommended this for anyone who had an extraction if it was still bleeding after they removed the gauze we put in initially. It will help clot the blood and it is soothing. Just hold him on your lap and hold it to the bleeding toenail for a few minutes. Hope he's better by tomorrow. I'm with you I'd be really, really upset especially since they didn't tell you and there's no way they didn't know when they did it.:( |
