Excited and planning!! I just ordered from the breeder a female yorkie born on valentines day. It is a valentine and birthday present to me from me! I have a female yorkie Dixie born in April 2008. She is adorable and the love of my every day. I am excited to get her a little sister. I did not want too much difference in their ages so this timing will be good. I am trying to think up a cute name to go with Dixie. Got any suggestions???? Also with one year and ten months difference in their ages, do you think they will get along and bond with each other as well as me? Any hints or suggestions?? I won't be going to get the new baby til about the middle of april so I have some time to get prepared and Dixie prepared as well. Anyone have any hints or suggestions to help make this run smoothly??? |

One more suggestion, have the breeder keep her till May, she will be 12 weeks by then. Taking her from momma too soon will only bring you more problems. |
Congratulations!! I have 3 females and the 2 year old and the 4 year old are much closer than my other 4 year old. I think they will love each other. My one is Pixie and I had Dixie (husband's idea) but sadly she passed after only 5 weeks with us. I like Dixie and Delta. |
I am starting to buy items for a pup as I am hoping to add one in May. I bought a soft crate like Billie's, same blanket, same mat and told the breeder, maybe if I set it up now Billie will be prepared that another pup is coming one day - the breeder tells me that no, my diva Billie will just think she is getting two of everything from now on!!! :D I think Dixie is such a cute name, I would suggest Daisy as I like the sound of 2 pups with "D" names but Daisy might sound too much like Dixie? I also really like Hazel and Ivy...I'm into the nut and flower names right now! :) |

I like Dixie and Pixie. I think the age difference is perfect. I agree with Jackson25 though...ask the breeder to keep her until 12 weeks. We just brought home our little Emee last month at 14 weeks and she was perfectly socialized. She used the wee pads without missing, understood how to get along with other dogs and slept in her crate from the first night without wimpering. Her transion was so smooth from all the time she spent with her breeder from age 8 weeks to 12 weeks. Best of all,she was still all puppy....and still is! Good luck and enjoy the wait. It is fun! |

Congratz!! I thought it's a wonderful present for yourself! I have been contemplating on getting a new puppy (probably a maltese) for myself...one of these days... I think you should name her PIXIE!! Dixie and pixie- ADORABLE pair! Plus, many others here also agree! =) In addition, the first couple weeks, Dixie may not like having a new dog around because she will no longer be the only one getting your attention. Introduce them slowly, don't make the same mistake I did. Make sure you pay attention to Dixie first at ALL times so she doesn't feel replaced (this was an advice given to me when I added a new yorkie). After a couple weeks, they will LOVE each other and you will ENJOY watching them play with each other. I personally love watching dogs play. Good luck! |
