Something I have never thought about My mother-in-law came across this article and even though it is about a kitten I imagine the same thing could happen to a Yorkie too. "Dear Heloise: I had the scare of my life when my kitten cried strangely. When I investigated, I found that he had gotten caught under the bed in the gauze lining attached to the bottom of the box spring. He and his buddy had ripped part of the gauze lining, and a piece of the fiber somehow got caught around his neck. I found him literally strangling from a thin, but very strong, piece of gauze fiber. Please share this important caution with your other pet lovers. I would hate to think of this happening to another precious pet. — Sharon, Alberton, Prince Edward Island, Canada" Needless to say please get under your bed and check to see if the gauze lining is coming apart. How terrifying for this woman. |
Excellent warning. I did look under my chairs when I got Chanel as a puppy since she hid stuff under there - another caution is lazyboy chairs - the kind that fold when you get up and down - they can be very dangerous |
I agree about the reclining chairs. Anytime he is not up on the couch with us the chair legs do not come up. |

Oh my yes! Was it here on YT that someone's puppy died from a accident with a recliner? I do remember reading about one, and now caution anyone that sits in our recliner....don't use the foot rest! Once this recliner is ready to retire, I'll not own another one. OP: thanks for this warning too...so many things out there we don't give much thought to until.....:( |
I was so glad when my mom replaced her recliner with a nice comfey stationary chair and ottoman.:D |

I remember reading about that a while ago--for some reason I think that the puppy was ok though. Or maybe that was how I wanted to remember it. My husband and I will never buy another couch/chair that reclines and hope to soon get rid of the one we have now. |
i take the gauze lining off my furniture because it attracts dust and i have breathing problems and my recliner is nailed in the down position my mothers pug lost her eye because the recliner foot come down and hit her on the head i also heard a story of a kitten getting its collar bone snapped(it survived and recovered) when someone put the recliner foot down |
I had never thought about this with a recliner....this is terrible. We have three recliners. |
yeah recliners can be really bad also something to watch out for is pots and pans i know gatsby can jump up to stove level and try to knock them down and hes only 6 pounds imagine what a bigger pup can do with a pot of hot water or a skillet of oil |
