Doggie Day Care Does anyone here go? What is it like? I am considering taking Hannah. What should I look for when I go by to view the place? Are there any questions that I should ask? |
- They should interview you / Hannah before they accept her. - They should ask for your vet's information, and how much they are authorized to spend on your behalf if there's an emergency and they can't reach you. - THEY SHOULD HAVE A TRAINER ON STAFF. - They should have a small dogs section. - Hannah should LOVE going, and be happy and tired when she comes back. I don't know what kind of personality Hannah has, but a badly run daycare can actually be stressful for some dogs - they might be afraid of some of their companions, or not have enough alone time. |

Yes, vaccines is a good one - they should require proof. My daycare lady also conducted an interview with Thor where she watched him interact with different dogs and even told me which days would have the best mix of dogs for him to play with, based on his personality. I came in telling her that Thor is undersocialized, so I wasn't sure if it was standard or not. Daycare can be a great option for dogs, just make sure it's a place with trained people. I took Thor to another daycare for a while, and while everyone was very nice and loved dogs, I don't think they fully realized his stress levels while he was there. He was always very tense when I picked him up. When I get him back from this new place, he's always very hungry and ready for a nap. :D |
I agree completely with QuickSilver. They should also always require updated medical records from your vet. Quote:
