I'm a nervous newbie!! Hi I'm a newbie! :D I'm getting my little boy in exactly 10 days! I'm so excited!! He'll only be 7 weeks old, is that too young? The breeder says he'll be fine... My boyfriend and I both work so we'll have to leave him at home alone. We've built him the cutest den and bought him plenty of toys and we plan on leaving the television or radio on. I'm so worried he won't be ok. I'm getting him the Friday afternoon so I'll have the weekend to bond with him. We've got quite flexible jobs so we can easily pop in on him during the day or my mom will check on him. I will be home at lunchtime and then finish work 2 hours later. Will he be fine??? |
I to have one that is very young .breeder told me he is 8 wks and will do fine.it is very hard i will tell you at. Here is how our day and night is going...i keep him in a crate because he is SO TINY ,but here it goes,at 7 am i feed him and take him to potty i leave him out 1 hour to play and bond and potty AND THEN IT'S REST TIME and then were at about 8;30am .at 11:30 am. We do it all over again ..the day goes pretty much like that.i add about 3 or 4 hrs. From the last time i put him up to rest . Night time he sleeps in his crate beside my bed . He has to pee at 11 again at 3 or 4 and up at 6 or 7 . So is it hard? ,,yes .i don't see how someone that isn't home all day could do it. They need so much care at that age .i would ask the breeder to keep him a few more wks. I love my little boy but i wish he had been a little older. I hope this will help and i wish good luck with your new baby .their so sweet.ps i to was on yorkie talk asking for help the people on here are so nice and try to help you,,,,thank yall |
7 weeks is really way to young...they should be with their mother and littermate at least to 12 weeks....this is the most important time for them...the mother teach them a lot between 10-12 weeks old.... |
Welcome to YorkieTalk :) Congratulations on your new little boy! Yorkies are the best. Seven weeks is young to bring a new baby home. I know you are excited but it would be much better for your little guy and give you more peace of mind if the breeder keeps him a few more weeks for you. Yorkie puppies are prone to hypoglycemia (be sure to look into that and have some nutrical on hand) and need constant looking after when they are very young. I know you want him to be safe and have a healthy little guy so you want to get off to the right start. Please do your homework on yorkie puppies before you bring him home. We will look forward to seeing photos of your new baby :D |
Hi. Welcome to YT. Congratulations on getting a new little one. As others have said, this will probably be a little difficult for you but also wondering if it might end up being dangerous for the pup. If you have a chance please do a search on low blood sugar. It is a possibility and you can loose your pup from it. I don't want to scare you or make you worry but I almost lost mine and she was a little over 9 weeks. And I was home all day with her. Thank God I was here. I hate to think of what would have happened if I wasn't. It was awful. I thought she was going to die in my hands. Even though waiting is very hard I think it would be worth it especially if you aren't home with her. There is alot of reading and things you can learn on here before she comes home. I wish you well with your baby. Hope to see pictures when you do get her. Good luck. Debbie |
Thanks everyone for your replies. I'm going to have a word with the breeder. I'm very worried about this, I don't want my first yorkie experience to be a bad or scary one!! Thanks again!!! |
congrats on your new puppy. Hope all works out.:) |
