Things that get your dander up, about our furbabies... I just thought I would start a topic about our babies... Things that people say or do about our babys that we are sick of hearing about... A post to vent about things... Here is one of mine that has become a recent one... My sister has 2 labs, that are used to spending hours on end outside and it hardly bothers them, even now in the middle of winter!! WEEELLLL lately my sister says... Why don't you put your boys out too, let them blow the stink off em... Well one they aren't used to just being out in the cold for hrs on end... today she said this to me so I snapped and said... "They aren't used to being out in the cold for hours on end!!" My sister laughed and said, "Hello they are just dogs!!" I then said, "HELLO, they are more then JUST DOGS, to me!!" everyone in the room laughed at me... MAN I WAS TICKED!! Still am a little... I will never have children therefore my furbabies fill that void, I don't tell my sister to NOT leave her dogs out as long as she does... Why do some feel they have the right to tell others how they should treat their dogs... It also bugs me when my sisters calls Nicky a rat!! Thank heavens she doesn't do that to much, UUUGGGHHH Share some of your rants... |
Dander is material shed from the body of various animals, similar to dandruff or pet pollen. It may contain scales of dried skin and hair, or feathers. It is a frequent cause of allergies in humans. The people of Lithgow Province, in Central Bavaria, believe that animal dander, if sprinkled over a meal directly before consumption, brings good luck. In the past, it was not unheard of for regional public houses to offer a small jar containing pet dander to patrons as a condiment, although the practice is less common today, largely because the scales and feathers spread disease. :D |
I'm sorry that you had to put up with those kinds of comments. Yes, they are dogs, but people just don't get that Yorkies have a thinner coat than most other dogs. their 'fur' isn't really fur. the ph balance is much closer to that of human hair, and therefore they don't have that extra undercoat to keep them warm. Further, the fact that there is a variety of predators in most places no matter where you live, a small dog such as the Yorkie is much more vulnerable in the outdoors unleashed and unsupervised. Personally I haven't had any snide comments, at least not any that were significant enough to remember. although my hubby does jokingly and fondly refer to our babies as "the overgrown rats" :p I agree completely though-I have struggled with infertility for a few years now and my babies--not just dogs--help fill that void. |
I have to admit when my wife gives Maxine a Bath, I have called her a rat dog. They look totally different when the hair is wet and plastered down. We have not received any negative comments. We never let her outside alone as we do not want a Hawk or Owl to fly off with her, or a Coyote to have a snack. In the Winter she has a Coat ...well, she has many coats. |

Sunshine is so cute how could they possibly be rude about him . We were at a car show last year and a bum comes up and says ,your dog costs more than some of these cars . Then he stubles off in drunken stupor ,Sue and I just looked at each other and Huh???. And friends at work ask me when we are getting a real dog . More laughable than insulting . And the guys at work give me a lot of guff over his clothes .... Steve |
