My Puppy Destroys Toys & Dog Bed My puppy destroys his toys & dog beds. Any toy made out of fabric gets pulled apart. Same goes for the dog beds. Is he supposed to be doing this? He has rubber teething toys, but I got him a few stuffed fabric toys couldn't help it, they were cute & he loves playing with them, until he tears them apart & I find the stuffing all over the place! Is this normal? |
Yes - hahaha but I would not give him plastic toys...he could swallow some of the plastic...I stopped buying stuffed toys and bought the flat ones...not as much fun for them.:D |
Oh yes, very normal :) I always recommend the hide a squirrel and egg babies toys for dogs that like to destroy their toys. They are meant to be "ripped" apart and dogs get the statisfaction of destroying their toy without actually ruining it. But then again, some dogs just don't care and will tear the toy apart anyways. My dog's hide a squirrel is a weird looking family- one has no tail, one has no stuffing, and one is in perfect shape. But he plays with all three of them still :) |
Ahhh you have a terror I mean terrier!!! LOL:D:D |
This is DEFINITELY normal!!:) I have an elephant stuffed toy that my female just looooovees to take the stuffing out of. Stuffing everywhere... I put it back into the toy and 5 minutes later, it's all out of the toy again.:p |
Yes it's normal, after they finish teething it shouldn't be as bad. |
lol I know how you feel. I've lost two beds + every toy I've ever bought. I have noticed they cannot tear up the Hartz FlexaFoam toys. I started getting the fabric squeak toys at the dollar tree... that way I dont mind at all if they rip it to shreds! Also try a cat cube with a fleece blanket in it. He may not try to tear that one up. Good Luck |
I just bought the hide a squirrel from G.W. Little, and he tore the ears off the squirrels. That's what prompted me to post this question. LOL! |

Could you try that bitter-apple spray and put it on things that the pup shouldn't chew? It worked well for Bandit, but Nala licked it, so it obviously didn't work for her lol.:p |
I have the spray, but should I put it on his toys? |
Probably not, but then I don't know how to teach him to not tear them apart. Good luck:thumbup: |

My male is 3 years old and he will still chew up anything stuffed and pull out the stuffing. My female does this too but she is only 7 months old. I just figured it was a yorkie thing and don't buy stuffed toys. At least not any with stuffing in them because I got tired of cleanning it up! |
