Any hair cutting tips I wont let anyone near pixies hair. My problems is that im pretty sure im not a groomer so my job isnt the best. I trim her ears but im always scared that I will nick her. Anyways her hair is getting long and she needs a trim. but I dont know how to make it even. Has anyone tried this before? |
1 Attachment(s) I groom my girls but don't cut the length so I'm no help on that...I Do trim their feet...their ears and their little butt area. When I trim the ears - you trim in an UPWARDS motion along the FLAT part of the ear ...only the Upper 1/3 of the ear - Like you're just tipping the ears Don't use the trimmer against the edge of their ear because the it WILL cut them ...I usually put my thumb behind the ear I'm trimming and just stay flat against the wide part of the ear. If you do it right you will get a perfect trimmed ear... The trimmer I use is the Wahl Small Trimmer - I forget the name - The Trimmer Head is 1" wide and perfect for ears...Most Sally's Beauty supple stores have them - For any other cutting - I use sizzors |
I have to let the Groomer do it, I'm not brave enough to try. :) |

Since mine are both long - I really can do it myself - it would be different if they were in a puppy cut - then I'd be scared to screw it up. |

I do it myself too. I feel this way if I screw it up it will grow back! ;) Brutus is pretty good with me trimming his ears, around his eyes and butt but he HATES getting his paw pads trimmed and his nails. The nails are better now that I'm doing it in the sink while he's all wet. |
i also use the little wahl clippers. and they will nick the edge of the ear..i did that once, and i wanted to cry. but with a little practice i got a little better each time. after i shave the ears (flat part) i then go back with a blunt tip scissor and trim right along the edge of the ear for a nice clean look. shave a little strip at the butt area too. i usually do feet with scissors also except between paw pads. its also easier for me to trim the edges of ears with the scissors if i dampen the hair a bit. but i like to shave then when dry...good luck.. |
