Furbaby awaiting arrival of new baby brother I keep hearing the most God awful things about dogs, not necessarily Yorkies but dogs in general and babies. I'm expecting my baby boy in May yay :-) And my furbaby Louie just turned 3 last month. Louie is certainly not aggressive, in fact he has shyed away from skin babies in the past...almost like he's scared of them. Yet, a lot ppl keep cautioning me that dogs can be very jealous especially if they're as "spoiled" for a lack of a better term as Louie is. What has been anyone experience with bringing a new baby home? What did you do to adjust your furbaby to your new baby's arrival? Thanks :-) |
I know you can try to have them around babies if you have any friends who have them, and before you bring the baby home bring home a blanket the baby was wrapped in so he knows the smell. This is a concern I have because Bandit's very spoiled and protective too. However, our friends visited and he was surprisingly friendly, even when I was holding her. He shyed away at first too but then came and saw her. Nala, who is the friendlies dog in the world, wouldn't stop licking her, and even tried to eat her spit up (eww!!) |
My Poohpie was my only baby for 7 years. She did not care for kids or babies at all. I had my first child when she was 7 years old and she acted as if the baby was hers. She LOVED him. She would lay next to him and "protect" him from our cats when they tried to smell him. I really feel like your baby will love your New baby because he will know that it is apart of you. At least that is my experience:) |

I had my yorkie Zorro for almost 7 years when I brought my dtr home from the hospital. At first he ignored me because I had never left him overnight before. Then the first night, I was sitting holding my dtr on the couch and she had to wear a little knit hat because she was premature and my sweet Zorro pulled it right off her head. He was always so gentle and sweet so I was shocked he did that but he didn't hurt her and after that he would lay right next to her when she was in her carrier on the floor. I think most dogs adjust pretty quickly. Congratulations on your pregnancy! |
