Second pup regrets? I have a deposit with the breeder I got Billie from and the litter is due soon. I've gone back and forth between girl, boy, wait and see...but heres what keeps cropping up: I was at a friend's place tonight with Billie, and I usually have her in my lap when I go to places with other dogs or little kids...and then when I came home, i got to thinking, what if I have 2? Will I be able to take them everywhere with me like I do with her now? There isn't enough room in my lap for two...my Billie is perfect, I love her so much, I am starting to consider the downside of adding another... So my question to everyone, please tell me, has anyone added a second and then had regrets about missing what life looked like with an only pup? |
I have never had regets of adding another. they seem to adjust and seem very happy to have another around to play with. as for taking them places yes it is harder to take 2 then it is just one thats the only downside to it. |
I had the same concerns as you did, but everything worked out great for us. I have no regrets at all about getting Dora. Her and Missy love each other so much. As far as room on my lap for two...there is! They fit side by side, and I can even carry two on one arm when I need to. Sometimes I'll put one on my lap, while I hold the other. I even think Missy enjoys bathtime more now that she has a sister to share the tub with. I can't think of one downside to owning 2 yorkies, honestly. |
Mine are such buddies for each other. I never regretted getting more. Hugs Shirl x x |
I often wonder about that too. We are enjoying our new addition so much that I think "What if we had two?" Twice as much fun? Especially when you see the cute little babies. But then I think of how lucky we have been with Missy and how really well she has done with potty training and learning tricks and sleeping well through the night, that I think what are the chances of being that fortunate again??? So unless the "Urge" gets to strong to resist in the future I guess we are going to stick with just one for now. |
Good thread:thumbup: Im sure lots of people want to hear opinions on this, me included.:) |
I have 2 girls that are best friends. It took a little time for Sydney to like Emmie. We take both of them everywhere. You will be amazed at what all you can carry and them too. If I go by myself I can carry them and their bag, my purse and lock the door. I felt so bad about leaving Sydney alone during the day. Now she is never alone. They have each other. |
NO REGRETS! Twice as much love and puppy kisses! :aimeeyork:aimeeyork Double the fun. The boys love to play with each other and keep each other company. |
I was the same way as you were but didn't have much time to think about it because we already had picked up Ozzie...I was a little upset because we never got to experience having the 1 little dog that you took everywhere but I soon got over it after I saw how much they loved eachotehr and how much more comfortable dealing with "new" things when they had eachother by their side (we got them a week a part and are both puppies) 2 is awesome so just wanted to tell you that other people feel that way too (well i hope...haha) good luck! I never have never regretted having both. |
No regrets, just new experiences. Like other posters said, they have a buddy now to keep them company when you are gone, a playmate, and a friend. I think it is good for them to have another of their own kind there with them. |

But, if you are not 100% sure then I would wait. But for the most my experience has been that you can more then handle 2, and yes you can take 2 wherever you go. I know lots of people who do.:D |
my two 3 Attachment(s) This is a great thread. I was thinking the same things. We just got a little friend for Charlie. I was apprehensive at first about it - the new baby is very very little. It's only been a few days and already Charlie is warming up to his new friend. They are already eating together, sleeping together, etc. Charlie just needs to learn to play a bit easier with the baby. I am so thankful that we got a second yorkie. Now Charlie will never be "home alone". Here they are: Attachment 307019 Attachment 307020 Attachment 307021 |

And honestly, CAN we really just stop at 1?;) |
No Regrets! Just new experiences! It will take some time to adjust, but in the end it is worth it!:) |
