Need Help in getting self stick tape off paws
 
Well, my 2 little lovies really did it this time. :rolleyes: They got a hold of a self sealing bubble envelope and chew it to bits!!! Not only did they chomp the envelope up, but the got the self stick flap on themselves! On their beards and on their pads!!

I was able to get it off of their beads and leg hair but I didn't realize that they had it on their little paws and we went out for a walk in the melting snow and it must have really activated the glue cause I can't get it off without hurting them. :(

Any suggestion for getting the glue strip off without tramautizing my little paper shredders? :confused::eek: I've already tried to brush/comb it out without any luck.

I know for gum in hair rubbing ice on it helps but not sure if it works for glue. Maybe trimming the hair on the paws will help?

peanut butter will break down the glue.

Oh, boy! I feel sorry for you. The only thing I could think of was Goo-Gone or baby oil. I looked on the net and found this. Maybe it will help:

If there is paint, tar, pine sap or other sticky substance caught in the fur, try to soften and remove it with petroleum jelly, or soak the area with vegetable oil or mineral oil for 24 hours. Some people have also had success removing sticky and oily substances with Dawn liquid dishwashing detergent. If these techniques do not work, trim away the affected fur. Do not use solvent, paint stripper, concentrated detergent, or fabric softener on dogs, since these substances are toxic when ingested and can also hurt the skin.

Try some rubbing alchohol on a cotton ball or q-tip and rub it off...it works great for painlessly removing tape and bandages as you pull them off because it breaks down the adhesive.

I thought I had read a thread about using peanut butter. I am just hoping for solution that didn't involve needing to give them a bath afterwards. Plus I know that they would be slurping up the peanut butter as fast as they could! lol If all else fails, peanut butter it will be! Thanks. :)

Thanks, I was wondering about that. lol Thank you for the info, I didn't realize that fabric softener was not good. That was one of my possibles. Glad I asked first. :)

Yes, someone else also suggested rubbing alcohol. I have that and it seems the least messy to start off with. Thanks!

Thanks...they have so many toys but their faves are always the stuff that they aren't supposed to have!!! :rolleyes: lol

Also, I did look to see if cutting the fur would do the trick, but the sticky is stuck on their pads. I have been able to pull tiny, tine slivers at at time from Maggies' paws but at that rate and her frustration level, it would the weekend before getting it all off. :eek:

I would use goo gone and then wash their little feet.
